It is a new year which means it is time to seek out new challenges! Time to pit your wit against trainers who all are aiming for the top and will do anything to get up there. Good thing TCG Jump is going to help give you the information you need to fight up there with the best. That way when you are versus some of the best then you will know what to expect when they slap down a card. To help start off TCG Jump in the new year, we are going to feature the card: VS Seeker!

VS Seeker is a Trainer card that was originally printed in EX FireRed & LeafGreen but was recently reprinted in Phantom Forces to be included in the current format. It is an Item card that will allow you to take any Supporter card from your Discard and put it into your hand.

Pros
LysandreIt has been many sets since VS Seeker has been in format and now it has returned. The last time VS Seeker was printed was back in Platinum: Supreme Victors in 2009. That is five years ago and things have changed. Though, the need and want for this card has not as there are plenty of Supporters in the format that can be used whenever you want in a clutch moment.

The ability to reuse Supporters and resources is a great one with so many powerful Supporters in the format. Do you need a new hand but have no Supporters? Just use VS Seeker to get a Professor Sycamore or Colress to grab a hefty new hand. Late in the game and you need one more knock out but can’t knock out that big EX Pokemon in the active? Take a Lysandre from the discard and use it to put your opponent’s Jirachi EX into the active.

One of the best things about this card is that it is an Item that is free to use. You do not need to discard anything to use VS Seeker and you don’t waste your Supporter for the turn. It is almost too powerful to be an Item card seeing that you can grab a Supporter from the Discard that will help you win the game or put you in a great position. It also allows players a bit more freedom in discarding Supporters. Sometimes you may have a hand that isn’t that great but you have a Professor Sycamore with a Lysandre in your hand. Prior to Phantom Forces, you may be wary of discarding a Lysandre in order to get a better hand. Now that there is the chance that you can draw VS Seeker later on in the game, you may be more open to discard a Supporter using Professor Sycamore or Ultra Ball if you need to put yourself into a better position. If anything, you are setting yourself up to potentially put yourself in a winning situation later in the game.

Cons
Seismtoad EXOne of the cons of VS Seeker that is has all the weakness of an Item card. Thanks to Seismitoad EX popularity, you may see yourself an item lock and unable to use any of your items including VS Seeker. The same situation can happen if Trevenant is in your opponent’s active position.

The other weakness to VS Seeker is that it is not a card you want to have early game with no Supporters in the discard. It is pretty much a dead draw when you are hoping for a Supporter but only draw a VS Seeker early game. The real strength of this card really depends on the type and number of Supporters that is in your discard.

How to Use ItUltraball
First you need to make sure you have a Supporter in your discard. This could be done in many ways. Either use a Professor Sycamore in your hand to get rid of your whole hand. If you want to get crafty then go ahead and discard a few using Ultra Ball so that way you can draw a needed Pokemon and put it on the bench. One nice combo is to use Ultra Ball to discard unneeded or weaker Supporters to grab Jirachi EX to play it on the bench to active the Stellar Guidance ability. This ability allows you to grab a Supporter from your deck. You can use this ability to grab a stronger draw Supporter such as Professor Sycamore or Colress to get a new hand. Then later in the game, your discard will be filled with great Supporters that could help you pull a strong play.

VS Seeker is seeing a lot of play and is one of the reasons why decks will start player fewer Supporters. Players may play thinner lines of Lysandre in order to play VS Seeker or other cards that their deck may need. VS Seeker is a strong card that can really call up for help in any kind of spot!
