Thundurus Raids and Rockets Storming into Pokemon GO!

Pokemon GO THunderurus
Stormy clouds are looming ahead in Pokemon GO!

March has arrived and it will bring in some stormy weather for trainers in Pokemon GO! That is because a thunderous new Pokemon is coming to raids while Team GO Rocket are storming in!

Thundurus Raids

Starting today, Monday, March 2nd at 1PM, you can start finding Thundurus hitting Five Star Raids. This powerful Electric/Flying Pokemon will zoom into raids with powerful Electric and Flying type moves. He will be tough to battle due to only Rock and Ice attacks doing super effective damage to him. If you have a Rhyperior that knows Rock Wrecker from Community Day then this could be pretty easy.

There is currently no end date to when Thundurus will leave raids. Please watch this article for when that happens.

Shadow Entei with Rockets

Those that finish the The Shadowy Threat Grows will find Giovanni awaiting them at the end. This time he will have a Shadow Entei in this battle party. Watch out! Shadow Entei is one of the many Pokemon that he will have on him. Make sure to bring plenty of Water type Pokemon to put out Shadow Entei and Giovanni’s powerful Pokemon.

The Shadowy Threat Grows Special Research will only be for March.

Team GO Rocket Takeover Weekend

The month of March is going to see some movement from Team GO Rocket. That is because they are planning to take over during a weekend in March.

This takeover will take place from Friday, March 6th at 8AM. to Monday, March 9th at 10PM. During this time, you can expect plenty of Dark and Poison type Pokemon running amuck. Also, other Pokemon that associate with Team GO Rocket. You will also see Absol running around in the wild! If you are looking for some new Shiny Pokemon then you are in luck! Skorupi will have a chance to be Shiny!

You can then expect Team Go Rocket to make a huge push on Saturday, March 7th from 2pm to 5pm. You can expect the following things to happen during this time frame.

  • Team GO Rocket Grunts taking over even more PokéStops. Sierra, Cliff, Arlo, and Giovanni will become even more active and easier to find with a Rocket Radar or Super Rocket Radar equipped.
  • Trainers will have the chance to capture all six of the Shadow Pokémon that Trainers have seen left behind by the Team GO Rocket Leaders. All of these Pokemon will have the chance to be Shiny.
  • Trainers will be able to use a Charged TM to change a Shadow Pokémon’s exclusive attack, Frustration, to other Charged Attacks that the Pokemon can normally use. Please note that the move Return will be learn by the Pokemon when Purified. This will overwrite and remove the previous known Charged Move.
  • You will earn twice the Stardust if you defeat a Team GO Rocket member.
  • Team GO Rocket music will be playing during the three hour event.

Best of luck to those raiding and battling Team GO Rocket this month!
