Celebrates 20 Years of Pokemon Anime with Kanto2017

Kanto2017
The Pokemon anime has turned 20 year this year and one guy is planning to celebrate with a goal!

Dogasu’s Backpack is a Pokemon fan ite that has been around for seventeen years with the goal to bring the Japanese side of Pokemon to fans around the world. He mostly does this by doing episode comparisons between the Japanese Pokemon anime and the English Pokemon dub. There are plenty of differences between the two version with most of them being in the 4Kids era of the dub that range from questionable line changes, paint edits and music changes.

In honor of the Pokemon anime turning 20, Dogasu has decided start a Kanto2017 mission. He plans to go back to the Kanto saga of the anime and finally complete the episode comparison for the saga. Dogasu has done most of the episodes comparisons for these episodes but some of those early comparisons need to be redone due to new information being discovered, out of date content or a new insight on those early episodes. There are some episodes from the Kanto days of the dub that were never compared and Dogasu wants to make sure that they finally have their time.

If you are a newer Pokemon fan or somebody who has never heard of Dogasu’s site then now is the time to check this site out. He has comparisons for most of the Pokemon movies and episodes up to Unova. It is a great resource if you are ever curious about the localization process that goes behind the Pokemon dub or wish to know a little bit of the inter workings of Pokemon marketing machine. For old fans of this site, now is a good time to catch up with a great site.

But for now, check out Dogasu’s comparison of “The Problem with Paras” and come back every Saturday for a new comparison as Dogasu kicks off his Kanto2017 campaign!
