It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for Crossroads Comics!
This week we’re taking a look at Pokémon Explorers. A Pokémon Mystery Dungeon style comic, it follows the story of Ty the Tyrogue and Hector the Bulbasaur. Ty is an impatient tyrogue with big dreams that would do anything to achieve them. His partner, Hector, helps Ty pursue these dreams with his brimming optimism and compassion, but his lack of initiative and confidence make his situation a bit more difficult. The comic follows their journey to earn the title of “explorers”, a title filled with honor and prestige due to its requirement of several selfless acts of heroism. It is the highest honor they could receive, but to achieve it they must put the work in first.
I really like the art style of this comic. It’s a cute story with a cute setting and the visuals really just tie it all together. Hector has the most adorable expressions that make every page he’s in just a joy to look at because of how cute he is. The story is also very interesting and I’m excited to see where they go with it. The humor keeps the liveliness of the setting while also progressing the story as we transition from one scene or setting to another. All in all, it’s a great comic with a lot of potential. I’m excited to see where it goes.
While I don’t know the identity of the author, my few exchanges with them have all been very nice, so they and their comic deserve all the love they can get. So be sure to check Pokémon Explorers out when you can!
