European International 2020 Cancelled

EUIC
Important information for those going to the European International.

Due to the growing threat of the Coronavirus and concerns of the global public health, the European International Championship has been cancelled.

The European Internationals was set to take place in Berlin, Germany from April 17th to 19th. Though, prior to the International, several events in Germany were already planning to be postpone or simply cancelled. Also, schools, hospitals and workplaces have been closed due to the threat of the Coronavirus.

Play! Pokemon is most likely playing it safe and following advisories by the German government and World Health Organisation. After all, Internationals are one of the biggest events in Pokemon that draw in people from around the world. That also means high potential to share germs. These germs can be shared by simply shaking hands as a sign of good sportsmanship or simple holding a TCG card. Cancelling of the European International Championships is most likely an attempt to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

Currently there is no word if there will be a cancellation of the North American International in June or Worlds in August.
