Those who play the TCG and planning to hit some Prereleases soon are going to get some awesome cards.
Pokemon has reveal that the promos that will be given out at Evolutions Prerelease events. The prerelease promos will be Charizard, Gyarados, Machamp, and Mewtwo.
These four cards differ compare to prerelease promo cards of the past. The first difference is that these cards do not feature new artwork. Usually prerelease promo cards feature new art of that card with the set logo in the corner to make it different. The promos for Evolutions are using the same art as the in-set counterparts. Also, it seems like the cards are also using the in-set card number instead of being given a Black Star Promo number.
The original prerelease promo cards that were given to players at the first prereleases were simply the normal card with the word “PRERELEASE” stamped in the bottom right hard corner of the art. Maybe Pokemon’s decision to use the same art as the in-set counterparts is a nod to the original few sets. Hopefully this won’t become a norm for the TCG prereleases.
Based on the four cards, it seems like players will be eager to get their hands on Charizard due to it being a fan favorite. Many older fans remember buying packs simply for the chance to pull a Charizard card. Though the competitive players will be wanting to get Mewtwo. This card has an attack call Psychic which damage output increases for every energy on your opponent’s Pokemon. It is because of that release why Mewtwo will be sought as a counter to M Mewtwo EX.
Prereleases for Evolutions will take place on October 22nd to 30th. Those who take part in a prerelease event will receive a Prerelease box containing a 22-card Evolution pack, four 10-card booster packs, and an exclusive foil promo card. The Evolution pack provides a solid foundation which, along with the booster packs and Energy provided by the Tournament Organizer, is used to construct a 40-card deck. At the end of the tournament, Tournament Organizers may award three additional booster packs to all players or may give them all to top finishers.
