    Eating Utensil Etiquette

    When in a setting where a fork, knife, spoon, etc. must be used, what style of utensil etiquette do you use? If you're not sure, here's a link to the Wikipedia page so you can discern what method you are using. Wikipedia Page

    So what style do you use?

    I think I use a hybrid of the American and European methods because I don't switch hands (mom fusses at me all the time for that) but the way I hold my fork and knife is more towards the American style. Well my fork is anyway. I hold my fork like I would hold a pen, which is American, whereas my knife is usually held like the European style of the hidden handle. So I don't know. I don't even know where I picked this up but my mom has always fussed at me for eating "improperly" and I think the joke's on her because the way I eat is considered much more proper than the way she does.

    European style for me. I didn't even know there were names for it.
    Now I know!

    Thanks @Alphys;

    Though Australians follow European cultures a lot.

    I'd say I'm more Southeast Asian. I don't really every use knives for anything, as I never really consume anything that requires them. I also very rarely eat with forks. I eat literally everything with a spoon. Spaghetti? Spoon. And I do eat a lot of Asian foods like rice and soups! The only difference is that, despite being predominately right-handed, I use my left hand for many things (I'd say that I'm almost ambidextrous, but I can't write with my left hand at all, I just use it for most other things), and eating is one of them. So, instead of holding eating utensils in my right hand, I'd use my left. That's technically European style, but I never use knives, and I'd honestly probably use the knife in my left hand and then put it down and then also eat with my left hand...WAT IS EATIN ETICUT

    European style! Which makes sense cos, y'know, I'm European xD

    I'm not perfect though. I scoop up stuff a lot because I'm too clumsy to do it properly, which is considered poor table manners here. When I'm with more formal company I eat sooooo slowly so I don't make a mess. I'm definitely a spoon person at home.

    'Merican.

    I'm not ambidextrous, so when I cut food with a knife and fork, the right hand does the cutting, and then when it comes to scooping it or stabbing it with the fork, I have the right hand do that kind of work. I've tried the European method, but since I'm not used to it, the fork will often hit one of my teeth or my lips. Just doesn't seem worth it.

    I usually do a backwards-European style. Which means I use the fork in my right hand and knife in my left even though I'm right handed. I don't switch while eating. Sometimes I do it the other way round (knife in right, fork in left). It just depends how I pick them up. :P

    Considering my fleet of eating utencils consist of 2 forks 3 knives 5 spoons and 1 tea spoon. Things get interesting when others want food in my den
