I think the only good thing to come out of the switch is the video trends of people licking the cartridges.

Kids these days will never know the struggle of trying to get Mega Man X to work by blowing and shaking it and blowing in the SNES as well

I remember those days xD. Same with CDs except I also used a disc cleaner. Sometimes the cartridges needed more than blowing. I had to use a cue tip and alcohol to clean the inside. I think that made it all worse over time more so than fixing for long term xD

I tried to be very good about handling CDs so I never really found myself needing to buy an official disc cleaner. Thankfully, they didn't get scratched up or grimy as long as we kept them in the box and carefully put them into the tray. Though if we rented a game, it was usually a different story. The last people that used it usually weren't too careful. :P

There were a couple of games we had to return because they were so damaged that they were basically unplayable.

Wow, I suddenly feel a lot younger. I don't think I've ever had this problem, at least not with games. DVDs on the other hand... *Glances at unplayable Season 6 Smallville disks*
