Thinking too hard in general can hurt the brain, true, but life would be awfully boring otherwise.

Not sure why I feel so down today. I'm worried about not having a job still, but then again, I've been out of work before for an even longer amount of time with even far less money to my name and still managed to hang in there and find something eventually. I talked to one of my friends about the situation on Labor Day, and I dunno, it just feels like some of the stuff he said got me really worried and stressed out rather than encouraged.

What did he say to you? I mean, if you don't mind telling. Maybe we can help lift your spirits.

He made it sound like seven months of unemployment was really, really bad. It's not great for sure, but it's not like I now need to get my last rites. :P Beyond that, he said I should just take whatever job, regardless of how terrible, I can get. Things are not that bleak to the point where I need to do that.

I mean sure, it's a little anxiety-inducing when you're not sure where your next job is going to be and what it's going to be like. But I've been down the road several times and things worked out.

Anyway, thanks, I'm feeling better. This morning was very gloomy-looking also, so that kind of added to it. XP

Well, your friend is a bit overdramatic, then, isn't he? Hopefully you're able to get a new job soon, though.

No problem, if anything happens and you need to talk/vent just let us know.

Yeah I agree with Arrow. I think you'll be able to find something for sure! How do you feel about doing something part-time or casual in the meantime (assuming you're looking for full time work)? It wouldn't be much, but it'd be something in the meantime. You should totally look into being an entertainer as Jysan. xD Show up at kids' birthday parties and do classes on how to become a great assassin (the kid-appropriate version of an assassin, haha). xD Now I'm imagining you with all these cool little gadgets...

Thanks, dude. I'm not holding anything against him, either, he's a really careful guy and I think he was just trying to be helpful. From what he's told me, he's had some pretty bad experiences with some of his prior jobs. I think those past incidents are what's been affecting him.

That's true, part-time stuff is still an option. Same thing with volunteer work. I don't know how or why, but the idea of working at a local animal shelter seemed good. I'm just afraid one of those dogs or cats is going to steal my heart and I'll be going home with them. XD

Heh, as much as I'd love some role as an entertainer or actor, I just don't have the practice or experience. Even in school plays, I was usually just a narrator. Still, I find wearing a costume helps me feel a lot more like the character and that makes it much easier to walk, act, and talk how they would. If I were to go into acting, I'd probably request to do that during rehearsal just because it helps me get in character.

But yes, that faerie rogue costume at the Renaissance Faire was a lot of fun. There was one moment of the day where I was at the Blue Boar Inn with a bunch of other people in roguish fantasy costumes (including this one dude who had an AWESOME goblin costume) watching the Rascals and Rogues perform. Holy crap, the setting and feel of it all was so much in character that it felt like I was living a moment from the role play. Some people might think stuff like that is the geekiest thing in the world, but whatever, to me it's fun and enjoyably immersive.

I have been doing a bit of job searching to see what's around for when I finally finish uni xD There is pretty much nothing in Australia right now thanks to the government cutting science funding. Plus there's a lot of competition because labs hire people from overseas a lot for these particular positions. :( I can't really be bothered going to another country just for work, blah.

I think it's a cool idea to do some volunteering, @Neo Emolga! I dunno if I could resist cute animals either though. xD I see quite a few ads for volunteer graphic designers for charities/small businesses and stuff, who just want some pamphlets or a poster. Plus you can work from home. Maybe you could do something like that with your elite graphics skills :D

P.S. How's your novel going?! I keep trying to come up with ideas for one and I always think of you and wonder how yours is going!

Well I just finished Danny Phantom and now I'm really sad because I forgot how much I loved that show and it made me sad to know that it ended.

There's not a whole lot in the US either. It's a really difficult job market at the moment, but volunteer graphic design is another cool possibility.

As for the novel, I still need to write a synopsis for agents, and I need to get off my butt and do that. I didn't realize most agents want that and I can't really start contacting them until I have one ready to be sent over. It's basically summing up the entire novel in 500 words or less, chock full of spoilers. The idea of them just reading that and not the novel actually kind of irks me (because they'd miss out on so many good things), but that's just how the process goes. They get tons of these all the time and unless they like the summarized storyline, they're not going to plow through the rest of the novel.

But yeah, coming up with ideas is tough. Usually I like to build a setting first, come up with concepts, creatures, and characteristics, and then give it a story, all the while tinkering things along the way to fit with that storyline. It helps to think of your favorite movies and games, borrow a few of the things you liked the most about them as inspiration (tweaking them to your personal tastes helps make them uniquely yours), and weave them into your story.

Dreams also help, and there you don't need to worry about copying too much because it's not like it's copyrighted material! Sometimes dreams can get weird, but weird is good. I won't deny I've used events and themes from my dreams in stories. Sure, I tweak them to fit with the story, but often it's "you can't make this stuff up" kind of material that you just can't pull out of nowhere.
