You know, I always hate these sort of complaints.
"They're lazy and stupid."
"They have the attention span of a squirrel"
"They have it so easy."
"Kids have no character, no morals, they disgust me"
Well guess what? Every person, tradition, cultural symbol, and everything else in today's society is a product of what the previous generations spent their entire life working towards. We don't spring into life with a purpose to be different. We were still raised in the world established by those before us. Before you go complaining of the corruption the youth bring, look back at your own childhood. We're you as mature as you are now? Do not place the expectations you have of yourself on those who haven't lived your life, experienced what you've experienced, learned what you've learned.
Things are too easy for kids? Maybe you shouldn't have worked your generation shouldn't have worked so hard to improve the world and make difficult tasks easier.
Their English is appalling? Have you ever tried comparing your own vocabulary to your parents? or Your grandparents? You'd discover a multitude of "appalling" differences thee as well.
No attention span? It's not today's kids who're developing the TV shows, the video games, the movies, the apps and phones and everything else.
You are not perfect. I am not perfect. No person on this entire planet is perfect. So stop expecting the people younger than you to be. Don't throw stones at your own glass house. This is the fruit of your labor, the fruit didn't grow itself.
Whoa Morzone. Just chill out a little.
Yeah, you're one of us. Now you can complain about kids. xD
@Morzone You're not wrong! Over here houses are getting ridiculously expensive so very few people in my generation can afford to buy one. There was a newspaper article a couple weeks ago saying we can't afford it because we spend our money on avocado brunches. XD When really it's because the generation before us got rich on the housing boom and it's really difficult to get a secure, full time job these days unlike our parents gen (My dad worked at the same company from when he left uni until now!! That doesn't happen these days!). But they just wanna say we're lazy and need to stop wasting money as if that's the issue, when really we just want the same opportunities they had! So yeah it goes both ways. Obviously kids come out how you raise them so it is a bit silly to complain about them if you contributed to that generation. I don't think any of us have kids yet though so we're allowed to complain. XD
Sorry for exploding like that, and thanks Sarah :)

But really, I do wish that education was a more staple into society instead of TV. Or weed. Or parties.

Sorry to say that neither of these things are the fault of the younger generation. Like Morzone said, the young ones are shaped by the society built before them, and who was it again who built that society? If you wish that education was more of a staple, then are you at least actively trying to do something about it? Besides acting like a cynic on the internet.
You mean the education that tells me as a politician in training it's more important for me to learn Calculus than how state and local governments work? The education that says memorizing the periodic table is more important than knowing how to change a tire? The education that judges whether or not I get into grad school based on how I do on standardized tests rather than how I actually contribute to society?
Yeah seems fair.
I feel like education is worth less these days anyway. It doesn't matter what degree you have, no one wants to hire you unless you have experience, which makes no sense. xD Plus all the universities here are taking anyone and cranking out degrees to the point they're practically worthless, just cos they want money. (If I'd known just how HARD it is to fail out of university I wouldn't have stressed so much. Seriously people get so many extensions, repeat exams and second chances for nothing! xD) :P Everything's changing so much all the time. Who knows if it's better or worse. Depends what you want out of life, I guess!
I never said the education system was great. I just said education should be a staple of today, but it isn't. If it was up to me, our school system would teach proper things, instead of how far Timmy has traveled when he ate 5 apples.
