I got a shiny larvitar too with decent IVs so it's a tyranitar now!

It's odd. Anything I've ever got that's shiny has terrible IVs to them. Well not "terrible" but the appraisal tells me "has room for improvement as far as battling goes." So I don't see it being any good.

Though good news, I have enough Pikachu candy to supply a large army still xD

Aww :( I've had some good luck recently. I find a shiny swablu and wingull. Shinies are pretty common on community days so you could try playing then if you want to find one :)

It can be incredibly rare. So I can understand the frustration. The only time I’ve ever found one was on a Community Day (excluding Pikachu) like Sarah said. It seems the chances are much better. I just found a Pikachu nest and caught as many as I could over the next few days.

I’m still hunting for a shiny Swablu though.

These community days do seem as though they carry the best chances, a friend of mine caught a shiny Charmander on one.
I once encountered at least half a dozen Charmander on an average day and not a single one was shiny. :P
