In all honesty neither have I but I think I've watched enough anime to be an expert on hot springs.

The male protagonist always ends up on the girls side somehow (along with some of the randals) yelling ensues, a large smack can be heard by all males all across the cosmos as they shrink back in fear and knowing.

I guess it's basically a spa. One of my male friends went to hot springs/spa thing in Japan once and everyone was nude. It was really awkward, apparently. XD

I read this somewhere too, though, that it's rude to go into hot springs with clothes on. BUT THAT'S JUST AWKWAAAAARD. xD

But yah, I've never been either.
