    Taking down Christmas decorations

    I'm curious to know how many people still have theirs up. And generally how long it takes for you to take them down. X3

    We took down ours last Monday, but there's still a mess of pine needles that needs to be vacuumed. And what's ironic is that we use a fake tree. Fake or real, that tree will drop bits of itself all over the place either way. Meanwhile, a lot of people still have their outdoor decorations up, which I can't entirely be surprised at considering it's been BUTT-KICKING COLD out. I just don't get why they still turn them on. :P

    I would say the longest I've seen Christmas decorations up was all the way up until March. That doesn't include the peeps that just leave stuff like their icicle lights hanging up all year. XD

    I took mine down the week before I left for Florida, so roughly January 3rd through the 5th or something like that. Usually they stay up longer but eh.

    I was always told it was bad luck to leave them up past the New Year, so I took mine down a few days after Christmas.
    Everyone has a dream that fills their heart. A journey they must take. A destiny to fulfill. As close as your imagination exists a magical place, where wondrous creatures with incredible powers help make dreams come true. It's the world of Pokemon!!"

    Hmm, that's interesting, I don't think I've heard that before.

    I always figured it's okay to keep them up even then, but as soon as the epiphany passes (was Jan 6th this year), it's about time to take the stuff down.

    We typically take ours down on January 1st or 2nd, and we did the latter this year. A few were left up and/or lying around until the 3rd, but we cleared them all out then. The house always looks so bare and empty when the Christmas decorations are taken down.

    Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way! Especially the area where the tree used to be. Typically, we have a chair and ottoman there instead which got moved into another room for the time being, but yeah, even beyond that, the fireplace mantle is bare and the spots where even just the silly Christmas knick-knacks went seem oddly vacant and devoid of color. Almost to the point where when you finish, you begin to ask "oh, why did we do this?"

    Yeah, the tree area is always the most barren looking. Mine was right by the window and on top of a small table because it's not too tall, and all the open space there now just feels weird. It's definitely a lot less colourful too, and it just makes me sad that it's all over. That's probably the real reason why I hate taking decorations down; it's the physical reminder that the festive season is over. :(

    I hate taking down decorations for the reason Blaquaza said above. And also because it's a hassle. xD Usually my mum starts bugging me to take them down the day after Chrustmas haha! One year I left them until mid Jan because lazy, and she took them all down herself and shoved them in the box in a huge tangle LOL. I learned my lesson. ;_;

    This year we didn't have any decorations besides a tiny Christmas tree as my dad was sick and no one really felt like celebrating. It was super easy to put away cos you literally pick it up and put it in the cupboard haha.

    Funny thing, I got home last night and thought the lounge room looked larger than usual, but I just dismissed it. Wasn't until this morning I realised the Christmas tree had been taken down. XD /alittleslow

    Why do people even have their Christmas decorations up? Christmas isn't for another 350+ days!
