Kamiki typed quickly on her Leppa Phone 8. Her grip was tight on the pink phone as she quickly sent a message and waited impatiently for a response. She saw the bubble and three dots appear from the person on the other end. It appears a moment later, causing Kamiki to smile a little. Ever since their meeting in Castelia City, Kamiki and Damien had been texting back and forth non-stop. She had even demanded that her boat from Unova to Sinnoh had wifi so she could continue to text him. Now, riding on a train in Sinnoh, Kamiki felt as if she was one step closer to reuniting with Damien. However, his messages did worry her a bit.
Damien: So you’re in Sinnoh already?
Kamiki: Yep! We’re on a train from the port in Sunyshore City.
Kamiki: My concert there was cancelled for some reason.
Damien: You haven’t heard?
Damien: The news reported that there had been terrorist attacks on Jubilife City and Canalave City!
Kamiki: :0 What! Why?
Damien: Don’t know. Though someone pointed out online that the wanted PBI agent was spotted near there shortly before the attacks.
Kamiki: You think he could be behind it?
Damien: Maybe. From what I’ve read online he’s an electric specialist, so he could have easily caused the huge blackouts in those areas. But…
Kamiki: But?
Damien: It doesn’t add up.
Kamiki: ?
Damien: He was perfectly loyal prior to being deployed to Alola, the people they interviewed testified to that. So why suddenly go rogue?
Kamiki: Wait! He was in Alola?
Damien: Yeah, why?
Kamiki: He must’ve been sent to help with the Ultra Beasts appearing all over the place. I can’t really explain it, best for you to research on your own.
Kamiki: My manager says we’re getting off soon. I have to go, but I’ll text back soon, okay?
Damien: Okay!
Damien: Be safe!
Kamiki looked up as the train stopped rattling down the tracks. Clicking the button on top of her phone and sliding into her pocket with one slick movement, Kamiki stood up. Her manager grabbed her arm roughly and pulled Kamiki off the train. Kamiki shivered a little as they stepped into the frigid air. She had read that Sinnoh had a vastly colder climate than many of the other regions, but she had never imagined it to be this cold. She felt underdressed and unprepared.
A chill ran up her spine and Kamiki sneezed as her manager escorted her through the train station to the car waiting outside. Wearing a skirt had obviously been a mistake. Kamiki’s manager opened the car door, allowing the pop star to slip inside. She noticed on the seat beside her that there was a change of clothes. It appeared her manager had thought ahead, per usual. Though she had to wonder why they still traveled by public transportation. Kamiki’s manager claimed it was for exposure purposes, but wasn’t it also a huge security risk? Sometimes Kamiki really questioned her manager’s motives.
A door closed at the front of the car, and the car began to drive down the road. Kamiki looked outside and gasped, snow beginning to fall. She had never seen it before! Sure, Alola had snow on one of the islands, but only on the tallest mountain and for security reasons not just anybody was allowed up there. She had always wanted to see snow but Melemele and Akala Islands were just to warm to allow for it under normal circumstances.
It was quite the sincere sight as they traveled through the city. People dressed in warm outfits with their pokemon, smiling and going about their mundane lives. Oh how Kamiki was sometimes envious. They reached her hotel much sooner than Kamiki would have liked. The door opened and her manager stood tall and imposing, blocking any route of escape. He obviously didn’t want a repeat of what happened in Castelia City. Fine then.
Kamiki unbuckled herself and slipped out of the car. She felt his strong grip on her shoulder as her manager lead her inside the hotel. They approached the desk and the receptionist immediately recognized us. She reached under her desk to retrieve a key as she quickly said,
“Ahh! Welcome Madam Palakiko, glad to see you made it safe. I trust your journey here was smooth?”
“Hardly,” her managed scoffed, causing the receptionist to look a bit uncomfortable. She scrambled for a moment before thrusting out the key holder.
“W-Well if there is anything we can do for you just please let us know.”
“Oh I will be,” the manager replied as he lead Kamiki away, “I expect only the best treatment. Any less and I’ll tarnish your reputation.” With that, he slapped an elevator call button the door opened silently. Kamiki nearly stumbled as she was pushed inside by her manager. He stepped in behind her and glared at her as the doors closed. “Dear, please try to not be so clumsy. No one likes a realistic popstar.” Kamiki bit back her tongue as they rose in the elevator. Per usual, she had the penthouse suite. There was nothing wrong with that, she supposed, except that it was going to be housing her manager as well. He was royally pissed after the whole Castelia incident and was determined to not let it happen again. He had almost forbidden her from texting Damien but she had not budged on that one.
The two stepped out of the elevator into the suite. Kamiki immediately walked over to the thermostat and started to turn it up. Her manager briskly walked into another room, one of the two bedrooms up here. No doubt he was finding out which was the better bedroom so he could claim it for himself. Kamiki moved over to the couch and sat down, relaxing for a few minutes. The elevator dinged as it rose again, several attendants bringing up she and her manager’s luggage. Kamiki looked around before spotting her purse amongst the luggage. Walking over to it, Kamiki pulled out some money and tipped everyone. Taking her bag, Kamiki walked into the other bedroom and set her stuff down. Closing the door, Kamiki changed into the winter clothes that she had been given in the car. She definitely felt much cozier in a purple long sleeved shirt with black pants her black hoodie than a skirt. Lacing up her shoes, Kamiki noted that things were still being brought into the penthouse and her manager was busy setting up his room. It couldn’t be this easy… could it? Kamiki grabbed her phone and wallet before exiting her room and moving the elevator with the bellboys. The elevator doors opened and Kamiki was about to step in when the loud shrill voice of fun killer caused her to freeze in her tracks.
“
Kamiki!” Busted. Kamiki stepped away from the elevator and saw her manager with a face so read it looked like he was about to explode. “What on earth are you thinking? Get back here!” Kamiki bowed her head a little and walked over. She tensed a little, preparing herself. Sharp pain stung her cheeks as a loud clap echoed in her ears. Kamiki raised her hand to her cheek and looked up at her manager. “Honestly, you’re such a disappointment. I thought you had learned after Castelia! You are forbidden to leave this suite until the show, young lady.” With that, her manager turned and stormed off to his room. Kamiki slunked back to her own, barely holding back tears as she slammed the door behind her and collapsed on her bed and cried softly.

Kamiki opened the door quietly. Night had fallen upon Snowpoint City and Kamiki couldn’t sleep. This could be here only chance to see snow, she had to go out now! If not to see the snow then to spite her manager. Damien had not been a regret. He was her friend! Why was that so hard for her manager to understand? Peeking out a little bit more, Kamiki heard the snores of her manager and smiled a little. Slipping out, she quietly closed the door behind her. Kamiki dashed on her toes to the elevator and pushed the button. Bouncing a little in anticipation, Kamiki realized the elevator might make some noise. She’d just have to be quick about it then. Drawing closer to the door, Kamiki shifted the bag on her shoulder. There was a ding, causing the snores in the other room to halt. The doors slip open and Kamiki slipped inside, rapidly pressing the close door button. As the doors slid shut, Kamiki could hear the snores resuming. For now, it seemed, she had gotten away with it.
The elevator descended to the lobby. Kamiki stepped out and made her way briskly towards the exit. No one stopped her. Stepping out into the frigid air, Kamiki paused for a moment, and breathed. The crisp air pained her lungs slightly, but Kamiki loved it! It felt so nice. The snow crunched under her feet where she walked. Kamiki was fascinated, jumping around a little to test the snow and giggling the whole time. She started to walk into town when someone called after her.
“Ah madam!” Kamiki felt her heart sink into her stomach at the voice and turned around. It was a bellboy. “Do not stray too far. There is another snow storm due in an hour. It is unwise to get caught in one.” Kamiki felt relief swell in her and bowed, thanking the man for his advice, then turned and made her way into the city.
It was a quaint place with lots of houses, nothing compared to Castelia but still nice. A familiar scent caught her nose and Kamiki wandered towards an open restaurant. Stepping inside, Kamiki smelled the glorious scent of noodles. But not just any noodles, Snowpoint Noodles! She had tried some of the knock offs at places in Alola but she had to try this while she was here! Kamiki sat down at the bar and ordered a bowl. As she waited for it to cook, two other figures entered after her. They sat down in the two seats beside her. Kamiki glanced over at them.
Both were wearing hoodies that covered their faces, similar to the one Kamiki had been wearing when she had ran into Damien. The one closest to her was hunched over, as if to hide his face more, while his buddy was leaned up against the wall, his blue eyes barely visible. The eyes flicked towards her causing Kamiki to quickly look away. A man came over and took the strangers’ orders, returning shortly after with Kamiki’s order. Kamiki began to eat in silence, savoring each taste until her pleasure was interrupted by a yelp. Kamiki looked over to see the boy furthest from her shaking, steam rising off of him. The employee across the table was petrified, obviously having tripped and dumped hot water on the customer. Several people began to pass down paper towels, allowing the man to dry off. He pushed back his hood and began to dab down his face. It wasn’t much, but it was enough.
That was PBI Agent Dylan Thomas. While waiting for the chance to sneak out, Damien had sent Kamiki several articles to look through. They had reported that another agent had unexpectedly gone rogue to aid the first. There was no doubt in Kamiki’s mind, this was them! Dylan looked over at Kamiki again and his eyes widened a little, noting the recognition on her face. He quickly pulled his hood up more and tapped his buddy. They exchanged a look before both fled the stand. Slapping some money on the table, Kamiki took the bowl of the noodles and began to pursue the two. She just wanted to ask some questions!
Just as the bell boy had warned, the snow was starting to fall heavier, indicating the coming storm and starting to mask the tracks the two left behind. Kamiki shivered but pushed on, running as fast she could to chase the two. She saw Dylan in the distance turn his head back to look at her. Kamiki immediately took the chance to call after them,
“Please wait! I’m not going to hurt you.” Dylan slowed a little, as if sensing the genuineness of her voice. However, the other agent, Jalal, grabbed Dylan’s arm and yanked him along, snarling something at him. So that’s how it was going to be. Kamiki dug into her pockets and pulled out a pokeball. Enlarging it, Kamiki threw it into the air and light burst out, shooting towards the two boys. Both slid to a stop as a comfey appeared in front of them. He smirked at them and looked back at Kamiki. “Corey! Use vine whip to hold them still!” The comfey’s eyes glittered as it released several vines. Dylan reacted first, dodging out of the way as Corey tried to make a grab for them. Jalal was quickly tied up but Dylan continued to dodge. He started to try and pull Jalal free, but in doing so, got caught himself. Both agents tried to struggle, but it was obvious that Corey had a tight grip on them both. Jalal glared daggers at Kamiki as she approached. Kamiki frowned at him.
“I told you to wait,” she stated simply, “but you wouldn’t listen.” Kamiki looked back towards town before scanning her surroundings. “Corey, let’s take them into that grove over there.” The comfey floated with the two agents over to the trees, Kamiki right behind. Once they were thoroughly out of the sight, Kamiki motioned for Corey to put them down. “Don’t bolt. I’ll just catch you again.” Jalal grit his teeth but simply sat down as Kamiki did once he was released. Dylan looked between the two, as if contemplating escape before letting out a sigh of resignation and sitting down.
“All right,” Dylan replied, “what do you want? To turn us in? Money? Our pokemon?” Kamiki simply shook her head.
“Information.” This earned two very confused looks. “A friend of mine and I have been discussing the events surrounding you two recently and something doesn’t quite add up. I want to know the truth. After all, ever since the media outlets in Alola, Unova, and Sinnoh got taken over by their governments, it’s nearly impossible to get true information in these regions.” Dylan looked at Jalal. The woman had a point. But could they trust her? Jalal simply shrugged. He reached to his belt and pulled off a strange looking ball. Enlarging it, he began his story.
“Not too long ago I was called to Alola to help quell the problem with the Ultra Beasts. I was sent after UB-04, known to the public as Celesteela. I caught it in this ball, and was supposed to turn it in, but something seemed suspicious about the whole ordeal. When I encountered Celesteela, it did not seem… aggressive, more like it was frightened of being in an unfamiliar world. I realized they were probably going to experiment and maybe even torture the poor creature and… well I couldn’t stand by to let that happen. These ultra beasts, they’re living beings too. So I fled. I took a boat to the Orre Region then to Sinnoh. I crashed at this guy’s house,” Jalal said, gesturing to Dylan as he did, “for a few days before they found us... somehow. So we were forced on the run. We fled to Jubilife, hoping to reach Canalave to take a boat elsewhere but…” Dylan interjected here.
“They set off an EMP over Jubilife and Canalave. That’s why the power has not come back on. It’s no ordinary power outage. They took out all the power in those areas, possibly permanently. We couldn’t use our pokeballs or any electronics. We only managed to escape because of a clefairy my cousin owned, which I’m holding onto right now. The clefairy knew teleport so we teleported to Iron Island, Full Moon Island, New Moon Island, and then Route 217. And that’s how we got here.” Kamiki stared at the two of them before putting a finger to her chin. She tapped her foot slightly against the ground as she processed this. As PBI agents, it would make sense for them to act in such a manner, putting the pokemon before all else. Their duty was to protect people and pokemon, not just one or the other. Though, one could argue they were now valuing pokemon over people, but Kamiki thought not.
“All right,” Kamiki finally said, “I believe you.”
“Really?” Dylan asked, a little surprised that she had responded so quickly. Kamiki shrugged a little.
“I mean sure. You don’t seem like the types to lie and it all makes sense to me. There’s… not much I can do for you but um…” Kamiki fumbled before realizing she was still holding a bowl of noodles. “You can have the rest of my noodles. And I have some water in my bag.” Passing over the bottle of water and noodles, it became evident the two boys had not eaten or drank much in their time running around. They scarfed everything down, relishing in it. They both sighed contently and bowed in thanks.
“We appreciate your kindness,” Jalal stated with a smile, “Thank you for helping us.” Kamiki smiled in return.
“Sure! I’m sorry there’s not much more I can do. I wish you the best of luck. Though, I will say, most of the police officers will be preoccupied with my concert tomorrow, so that’s your best bet on getting through town and on a boat without being noticed.” Dylan and Jalal appeared to be confused again. “What? I assume that’s why you’re here, right?” Dylan shook his head.
“It’s not that.
Your concert?”
“Oh! Sorry how rude of me. My name’s Kamiki Palakiko, I’m a popstar from Alola. I’m here on tour actually. I snuck out from under my manager’s nose to see the snow, since I’ve never really seen it like this before. This whole city is very beautiful.” The two boys seemed taken aback but decided to roll with the situation.
“My girlfriend actually listens to your music, I believe,” Dylan responded, “I’m PBI Agent Dylan Thomas. Pleasure to meet you. And this is PBI Agent Jalal Attar. Pleasure to make your acquaintance. If what you predict is true, then we could not have picked a better time to arrive in Snowpoint City. Once again, thank you for all your help, Miss Palakiko. And best of luck during your concert tomorrow. I wish we could speak for longer, but it is probably best we all return to where we came from. Agreed?” Kamiki nodded, noting how late it was becoming.
“Thank you for sharing your story with me. Best of luck making it out tomorrow.” The two parties quickly departing, Kamiki scaling back up to her room without her manager noticing. She didn’t sleep much that night, texting back and forth with Damien about her latest discovery.

Kamiki yawned a little. It was now a few hours after her concert. The concert had been an obvious success, the whole show had been sold out. Now Kamiki was on her way to the docks to get on a boat for the Hoenn region. She had to wonder if Dylan and Jalal had been successful in making it to a ship. She opened her eyes a bit more as the car stopped. The door opened and Kamiki was led out to a fine cruise liner. Kamiki smiled, totally ready for some R&R. As she waited for her manager and everyone to sort out what was going on, Kamiki thought she heard a shout. Suddenly, alarms went up everywhere.
“Abandon ship! Abandon ship!” Kamiki looked around wildly, recognizing that to be Jalal’s voice! She spotted he and Dylan a few boats down right as they threw two pokeballs into the air. An azumarill and lanturn appeared in the waters. The two boys dove into the water right as police officers came to the top deck. Kamiki started to move towards them when spikes rose out of the water, trapping the two. It had been a set up! The two looked around wildly, trying to find some route of escape but seeing none. Before she could stop herself, Kamiki was sprinting down the docks towards the two. Grabbing three pokeballs off her belt, Kamiki tossed them all in the air. “Corey, use magical leaf to cut those spikes! Carlotta, use hyper voice to blast back any approaching officers! Rosette, you know what to do!” The three pokemon spread out, Carlotta singing loudly to block any advances by law enforcement, Corey slicing through the trap, allowing Rosette to get inside with Dylan and Jalal. Kamiki got as close as she could to them and shouted, “Hey!” The two agents looked up in response. “Rosette is going to take you away from here! She’s going to be very tired afterwards. It’ll take several weeks for her to restore her energy, just take care of her for me!”
“Wait! What do you me-” Dylan never got to finish his sentence as a giant space-time warp opened, engulfing the boys and their pokemon. Kamiki had to shield her eyes at the brightness, but in a flash, they were gone. Kamiki sighed, hoping they would be all right. But now came the real trouble. Kamiki turned around and looked at the approaching law enforcement. Carlotta collapsed, having taken one too many hits from an opponent’s luxray. Kamiki raised her hands in the air, preparing for surrender.
“Kiki!” Right on schedule. Kamiki raised one hand higher, using her other hand to return Corey and Carlotta before being grabbed by a familiar hand. Damien pulled Kamiki onto the back of his unfezant, the bird shooting high into the sky where the police could not reach them. Kamiki smiled and giggled.
“Took you long enough,” she teased. Damien snorted and rolled his eyes.
“Sorry, Miss Princess, it takes a while to fly from Unova, especially on such short notice. What? Did meeting the two PBI agents give you the idea of running away too?” Kamiki giggled a little.
“Yeah. I realized, my manager isn’t worth dealing with right now. I need a little vacation until my next concert. Which may not be for a while now that I just helped two fugitives escape capture.” Damien pat Kamiki’s hand.
“It’ll be all right. Let’s head back to Unova for now, I can keep you safe there. At least, for now.”
