During Nintendo’s Spotlight presentaton at E3 today, The Pokemon Company president and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara announced that GAME FREAK are developing a core Pokemon RPG for the Nintendo Switch.
It is unknown whether it will be a brand new game or a port of an existing game (ie. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon or the rumoured Pokemon Stars). No other details were given besides that it may be over a year until release.

“GAME FREAK has begun developing a core RPG Pokemon title on Nintendo Switch. It may not release for more than a year, but we hope you’ll look forward to it all the same.”
