I really didn't start paying attention to the cries until later on. I know what I'll play with when I get one of the games....lol.

The only reason they gave pikachu an audio file in a game that came out over 2 years after the originals saying its species was because of the anime, which was the only thing at the time suggesting that pokemon could only produce vocalisations of species classifications given to them by humans. xP
Have you ever thought that, perhaps, the Pokémon saying their names came BEFORE the humans gave them their names?

My theory is that the Pokémon saying their names were what taught humans to name certain things as certain words. Charmander could teach people about char being a word for fire, as well as a reptile of its stature, all in one, just as an example. And that could be why the entire world speaks the same language despite how many ethnicities there seem to be all over the place (sometimes).

Well yeah, but somehow that seems less believable. xD Also I don't know that it's confirmed that there's only one spoken language. That might just be for readability in the games and anime made for children. It's certainly a thing that some people speak small amounts of other languages, like Professor Sycamore speaking French. "Pikachu" seems to mean nothing in English, and pachirisu, and lucario... I dunno. xD I know you're trying to view it from an opposite side but it just seems odd.

I liked the old cries too. They were so mysterious~ I was really sad that they changed some of them because I'd come to recognise them. :( It probably has gotten to the point where they could do calls that sound more like voices for all the Pokemon. Even if they don't all say their names exactly, it would be cool to clearly hear Pidgey cooing and Poochyena barking and stuff.

There might e a day when we all see (or hear) an actual Pokemon's voice in a game rather than a cry. I miss some of the old cries, but I'm glad they updated them all. It'll be interesting looking back while playing Yellow version though!

I also have never played through Yellow before and I don't know if I could go back to playing the originals. For me, it would feel kind of weird to suddenly have only the original #151 Pokémon and be missing tons of my favorites from all the newer generations. That's a LOT of Pokémon I've grown to like over the years suddenly missing in action.

Some of the classics are still there though, at least. Good ol' Charizard, Raichu, Pidgeot, and Dragonite were some of my best buddies back in the Blue version.

I got it just so I can have a run through with a great feeling of nostalgia. I may not have any past the original 151 open to me, but it'll be fun all the same. Though already I've noticed that Pikachu sounds very odd. Maybe it's because my system is set to surround and the game's set audio is mono?

Either way it's too bad those version exclusive themes are only available to those that buy the exclusive 2DS systems. I really don't want to have to drop over $100 just for a Yellow Pikachu theme =/....maybe I'll check amazon or eBay later.

At least I can re-experience my old Yellow feelings...even if all my old friends here don't play anymore or are too busy lol. Life and all keeping them busy and has yet to hit me in the full time workforce

I think it might be a priorities thing. Some people prioritize watching their favorite sports team over stuff like video games, so if that kind of stuff gets knocked further down the list, they will usually end up having little to no time for it.

For me, I just don't follow sports all that much. I'll watch the Super Bowl and some games on occasion, but for the most part, I don't really get into it. I'd rather be doing something interactive and more engaging like a video game rather than just sitting there idly while other people are actively doing something.

Well it wasn't until after I got into College I started to get into the whole "football" thing. It was around 2011 I even started liking to watch it and only because my state's team was starting to win every game (I think they went 12-2?) or something like that. I still don't watch it very often (and even when I do I get super bored). I find myself looking at my phone online more often than the game itself.

I think mainly with most my friends they just care about other games or other things in general. Like one of my friends follows sports because he's a journalist. Plus he's loved sports his whole life. Others are more into fighting games or just taking care of their families (a good few of my friends are married or planning to be soon). Man it's hard to look at that and know I still haven't even had a girlfriend. Oh well...in due time. That day will eventually come! =D

Well, I haven't had a girlfriend yet either while a lot of people I know have already gotten married and started having kids. I dunno, I'm not really gung-ho to go rushing into that kind of thing, plus I don't really have the financial security I need to be able to do that kind of stuff. If I'm going to have kids, I need to be able to provide for them in both time and money, and I don't really have that at the moment. Besides, it's not a race. Getting married and having kids doesn't add bonus points to your total score in life. It's all about accomplishing the things you personally find are meaningful in your life and learning who you are and what you want to become. For some, sure, that includes getting married and having kids. For other guys like us, there are other goals, and as time moves along, sure, that can be all subject to change based on experiences and what we've learned over time.

To me, not having a colossal group of friends and having a girlfriend is not me being antisocial. It's more about being selectively social, and I'd rather hang around people and places that share my interests, values, and show decency and respect. But if that's not possible, it's better to experience individualism than to be with bad company.
