    MORE SPRITESSSSSSS

This legendary pokémon is called Nympheii, a Psychic / Fairy pokémon. Its species is the Purity pokémon.

Fun fact: Nympheii and its counterpart, Antaraith, were originally part of an evolution line based off of space-based rabbits. Nympheii and Antaraith were the final evos, and each would be available via a Light Stone and a Dusk Stone respectively. Somewhere around the line, I redesigned them and made them legendaries. .3.

The colours are very fitting. I think the hat could sit a little lower, so it looks like it''s actually resting on her head, but it's good where it is. xD The ivysaur hippowdon looks a little odd around the leaf area; it looks like you've sort of scribbled some darker green there and then extended the leaves down to where the sand is pouring out. It would have made more sense if you cut the leaf off where it sits on an ivysaur, and then had the body part below it the bluey-green colour that the rest of the body is.

The meowth revamp has a wobbly mouth which would look better if it was shaped smoothly, and on the head's bottom line, there's some black lineart and then the yellowy colour, which looks weird the way it's currently alternating. There's also a black pixel coming up onto the face below the mouth where it looks like it continues on from the arm's lineart. Not bad, but it's a little sloppy overall and could be cleaned up.

    Also, here you go:

I'M SO ANNOYED because I tried to use Paint to resize that at first, but it pixellated. D: In older versions of Paint you could resize pictures by 100 increments and it wouldn't distort...now it does, which sucks. Instead, I used GraphicsGale and simply zoomed out, then took a screenshot of it and pasted it in a new doc to crop it. xD Yay nicely sized sprites!

Good job with these. :] Why not try out the last stage of the spriting game, which is in this section? You get to do the basic shape for the next sprite! xD

Thanks~ More sprites are coming very soon.
Is it ninja Skarmory or Ninjask armory?

His name is Atmos, which I took from the word Atmosphere. I duno why, but Atmos sounded really cool. He is a legendary Pokemon, and his typing is Dragon/Flying. I had trouble with the clouds, but I think it was worth it. After all, If I don't sprite for too long, my skills get rusty...

Guys, when posting in this thread, please make an effort to comment on other people's sprites. It's what encourages people to come back here, and hey, it's just plain polite! You know what else is polite? Thanking people for taking the time to type up a criticism for your sprites or any comment. We don't HAVE to do this, you know! ;]

I like it, but it needs more shading. As well as that, the outlines are too bright in most places. The shape of the body also seems somewhat lopsided, so some lineart cleaning up would be a good idea. Specific spots would be the hips. The eye colour also clashes with the pink tone that the body is coloured with. But anyway, nice work! Scratching isn't easy. :]

This is pretty cool. xD Interesting idea, and appropriate name. However, when working with clouds with sprites, you need to shade accordingly with the shape. Be careful not to use dark outlines around the clouds as well, as they are far too dark and are too much of a stark contrast, such as the claws' outlines. Remember also not to do any shading that makes the parts of your sprite look flat; if you shade around the outlines, it makes it look flat. So try to avoid that. Instead, take a look at some other sprites to see how they shade different shapes. :] For instance, on the feet, shade around the bottoms of the feet instead of only below the clouds. Nice job though!

I downsized the Sugimori art, like, a lot and then pixeled it over to make this litleo sprite! @Speed-X I would LOVE your criticism. (You criticise because you care. ;D XD) I can't quite figure out what else I need to do.

I saw this post and wanted to let you know that newer versions of Paint actually don't distort the image even if you do increase or decrease the size by increments of 100; but in order to prevent distortion you need to select all and THEN resize with everything selected. :D Also Ill crit that Litleo, I gotta find some time to though hahahah

Oh wow, you do? XD Okay, I'll try that next time then! Thanks for the advice. It'll be useful for fast editing. XD In the meantime, Gale was my saviour. c: Also I was pleasantly surprised to find that someone in my class at school uses Gale for spriting too. xD

And thanks! 8D I'll look forward to it! Take your time. xD

EDIT: Finished a female pyroar! Kinda had to because my VPP evolved three posts ago. XD

SO YES, I finally have some time. I'll do this in list form.
    • First off, it's best that you not use pure black if you plan on making the image transparent. It makes it more inconvenient for copying and pasting and the like. Also, I'd try not to use pure black anyway, if I were you: maybe, if not a dark, dark grey, you can try--in this instance--a very dark orange-ish red. Also, good for you for not using pure white, either. You shouldn't use pure black or white unless you really need to. With how dark you want the "black" color, it all depends on what you're going for. Same with the hue / lightness of the "white" color, if you have one.
    • The color count is 18. Wow. Let's take a look at this!
Firstly, your pink colors are a bit redundant. Just try using the reds, they work just fine. Also, the pink areas are such a small space anyways, that the difference isn't terribly noticeable; that, and the open mouth actually stands out more with the red. So that's two colors eliminated, which leaves us at 16. Let's further see how we can optimize it!
You made the tan cross into the black fur, which is good. It's good to find some way to cross your color ramps. Your darkest red color also isn't needed: up the contrast of your darkest dark gray a tad (by making it darker) and you can use it to replace the dark red.
Speaking of which, your reds could also use more contrast. Go with making the light red a little lighter.
Okay, so we also have a couple of other problem areas: your two darkest tan colors. Use the darkest one for BOTH colors and make that shade a little darker. Bam! No contrast problems, and especially no redundant colors. We're already down at 13 colors!
I found another problem area that I think was mistakenly kept: your darkest gray has a shade slightly lighter, used at the bridge of the nose.
    • Try using some anti-aliasing between the top of the closest eye and the black fur.
    • I see you're using selective-outlining, but try avoiding broken sel-outing, which is making it incompatible on a darker-colored background. Let me show you something.

See how you have some lighter pixels at the line segments? On a darker background, it clashes, looking too noisy. And this is a bad habit to break: I've been struggling with it for a while now, but I've tried to become more aware of what I've been doing. While I know that you're going for your own shading style, take some sprites from the Pokemon DS games. Put them all on a darker background. Hardly any of them have compatibility problems with darker backgrounds. What you should do is finish the sprite, then compare what it looks like on a dark and light background and tweak it so that it looks appealing on either.

I made all the aforementioned changes on this edit, along with some miscellaneous ones.

With all this in mind, try going over your Pyroar and see if you find any similar slip-ups and such. :>

I will mention, though, you went a little crazy with the number of colors on Pyroar. 21. With a lot of them, you could instead up the contrast on some areas and that would fix the need to add extra, unnecessary buffer colors. You use GG, right? Do you have the preview window set at all, by your colors and layers and etc (mine is at the top-left-ish)? It's very helpful. It seems that maybe you only focused on what they looked like while you were zoomed in instead of zoomed out. It's important that you know how it looks and how you want it to look while it's zoomed out, because x100 zoom is the size that pixel art is meant to be appreciated at. If you use too many shades for one color, it will look blurry and appear as if the contrast is low. Contrast is a really important element of pixel art; keep an eye on it! :>

Wow that looks pretty awesome :O There are a few bits on the outside of the tail, where it curves around, that look a bit pointy and not smooth. I'm terrible at explaining. xD But other than that, nice work :)

Thank you! I have two others:

His name is Rouqiao, based off of the Chinese legend of the Vermillion Bird of the South, Zhu Que. The left is the normal sprite, the right is his shiny. He's a Fire / Dragon type. owo
