As you realize it from entering the police station, Kanja has been assigned to the night shift to ensure there's always an officer on duty. However, it seems like even that just isn't enough.

You find Kanja at the police station where she's busy trying to review paperwork at her desk while her computer is displaying some rather grizzly crime scene photographs that Sten had taken. It seems like she wasn't able to get done what she needed to finish and it's like the reason why she's not out patrolling just quite yet.

You introduce yourself to her and her eyes open wide a bit, but she tries to relax.

"Oh, hello there," Kanja tells you, pushing aside the paperwork for now. "I hope you're not here to report something, are you?"

You explain that you're not, but you do want to know more about what's been going on with the Stalkers. Kanja sighs, looking like that's a subject that hasn't ever left the Kecleon's mind since all this started.

"It's not good, but it's more than what we think it is," Kanja tells you. "These aren't normal killers. They can do things beyond what a regular Pokémon can do. From the forensic reports, it doesn't matter if a victim Pokémon is strong or weak. These Stalkers kill, they're brutal about it, and it almost doesn't matter how prepared one is. I've seen and heard plenty."

"I'm not sure if staying in Southwarren is the smartest thing to do," Kanja tells you. "But then again, if everyone left, the Stalkers would just terrorize some other town. And I haven't even gone into motive, yet," Kanja explains. "Some killers do it for the infamy. That wicked attention. Some do it out of revenge, jealousy, bad relationships, or what have you. Not the Stalkers. There is dark, evil occult stuff going on here. There's some darker, seemingly supernatural purpose for it. Problem is, so many Pokémon don't believe in that. I think I'm the only officer that actually does despite what I've told them. And if I'm right, I think these victims that keep turning up are only finding out when it's too late."

"Well, I really need to head out on patrol," Kanja sighs, looking like she's hoping tonight goes better. "I should have been out there almost an hour ago. But that's another thing about Stalkers. Always striking at night. But the thing is even if we had an army of nocturnal Pokémon, they'd still find a way to kill."

"I'll try to gather up as much evidence as I can and get my reports together," Kanja tells you. "Come back sometime and I'll let you know if I've found anything. In the meantime, it's probably a good idea if you let us officers what you plan on doing, also. Maybe we can cover more ground that way if we work in tandem. Something like that could save lives if we communicate."

She then puts away her paperwork, shuts off her computer, and then gathers her things before heading out into the night.

You decide to head back to the Clean Easy Laundromat to see what you can do for the Mimikyu puppet and get at whatever is inside it.

At night, the Laundromat is completely dark, though you can see the flickering of lights upstairs likely from Vicker still watching television. You decide to head inside the main store, where everything is quiet and turned off for the night.

You find the Suicide Mimikyu Puppet, which definitely seems like it has seen better days, but it's definitely not beyond your ability to repair. You're able to make use of the unused string around some of the ripped-off appendages to mend up the limbs that have been ripped off and you're able to undo the damage to the parts that have been bashed in by undoing the dents in its face. It looks slightly less creepier than before, thankfully. It doesn't seem like you'll need those replacement parts after all.

    {Broken Mimikyu Suicide Puppet: <Repair> / Replacement Parts}

The object inside is still rattling, but it seems like if you just reach in deep enough with your claw, you might be able to pull it out as it just seems to be slightly stuck. You decide to try and go for it.

    #Sharp Edges: Ground# Trap 20% Evasion Test: 2 out of 100: Failed

Julia has suffered 1 Damage to Health.

However, as soon as you reach in, you realized whatever was embedded into this puppet is extremely sharp and you suddenly jump as you pull your claw out of the Mimikyu puppet and see it's sticking into your hand causing a trickle of blood to leak all over your hand and drip upon the floor. You wince as you dig the object out, and make a grimace as you realize it looks to be some kind of reflective, mirror-like key.

Item [Mirror Shard Key] #Sharp Edges: Ground# (1 Health Damage) has been added to the Team Inventory.

You're not sure who would be sadistic enough to make a key that feels like handling a bare razor, but you find it's definitely tricky to handle without cutting yourself on it. You have a feeling whoever actually ends up using it better find a way to work around the sharp edges or else it's unlikely they will be able to turn it into whatever lock it's supposed to go into without cutting themselves on this thing.

You decide to head back, putting pressure on your hand to prevent it from bleeding so much.

You find Nillian working the night shift at ApexMart, which also seems to be open late. Despite everything that's going on, Nillian seems optimistic, doesn't even mind working late, and tries to keep in high spirits. It seems there are some who believe he's arrogant in the middle of disaster or just remains strong and spirited despite the dangers and evil around him. And then there are those that believe he's in complete denial anything is wrong in the first place.

He greets you when you come up to him, and it seems like business is slow at this hour anyway. You ask him if he's seen anything suspicious about what's going on with the Stalkers, and yet it seems like the subject of Stalkers doesn't even really trigger anxiety with him. You're curious as to how he's able to remain calm and spirited even with what's going on.

"You just have to keep strong," Nillian tells you. "I do it for my family, our future, and everything in Southwarren. It's not the cleanest or prettiest town, but it's home. My daughter Daki means so much to me, and my wife Drisha... every day she keeps reminding me about what's going on, but that's just what these Stalkers want. Everyone running scared. Just can't be that way."

"But when it comes to noticing things, in a store like this, you see a lot of things," Nillian nods to you. "Sometimes weird things. I'd say the most suspicious one I've seen is Yandil. It's like that guy is possessed or something. I mean, it's one thing to be a hard worker, but he really overdoes it."

Nillain thinks for a minute, seeing as how that Yandil really seemed to be the first one that came to mind.

"Now, my wife keeps telling me we should run and leave, but trying to rebuild our lives after investing so much into Southwarren is just hard," Nillian tells you. "Picking up and leaving is easier said than done. Just about all of our friends fled town carrying only what their paws or backs could carry." Nillian then looks away for a moment as he's deep in thought before looking at you. "Now, there's one Pokémon that actually moved in to Southwarren just about a week ago right when all this stuff with the Stalkers is going on. Yeah, it's weird. Her name is Tashy, and she's a Furret. She moved into the apartment just across the hall from ours. And it seemed like she didn't even have that much stuff to move in with. Heck, I don't know where she works, if she even has a job yet, haven't really even met the girl, and it seems no one else at the Deckler Apartment Building has spoken with her either. I mean, she's only been here for a short while, but I figured she would have had to speak with someone on our floor at least once. She's kind of mysterious, but maybe it's none of my business."

"Anyway, if you're interested, all produce and everything in the bread aisle is 30% off today," Nillian smiles to you. "Yeah, I think Kanna, our store manager, really wants to sell it before it goes bad. But between me and you, I wouldn't touch the Sitrus Berries. Let's just say our supplier doesn't have a clue as to what they're doing, but... ha, ha, as I said before, it's probably none of my business."

As you easily realize, you see ApexMart is huge and remains open even at night. Despite the situation with the Stalkers, it seems like not much has changed about this large box mart store that still insists on doing business.

As you look up and down the aisles, you see plenty of different kinds of products for a large variety of Pokémon. While some are a bit more specialized toward Pokémon of certain types, sizes, shapes, and the like, there's definitely something for everyone here and it without a doubt, ApexMart is the central hub of retail when it comes to Southwarren. Because of this store, any other store trying to go into retail will struggle without a doubt. It just seems like this place has everything.

ApexMart has it all from produce, electronics, clothing, home goods, a pharmacy, and even an outdoor furniture area. Even at this time of night, there's still a few other shoppers in here with you. It also feels a little safer to be in here during the night than outside in the dark where the Stalkers might lurk.

While going through the dairy aisle of ApexMart's grocery area, you notice something shiny on the linoleum-tiled floor. It catches your eye and when you take a closer look, it seems to be a silver ring. While even though you're not a jewelry expert, it's definitely an item of value. You're not sure if someone lost it or what the story behind this is, but you decide to take it with you. You're pretty sure if you don't, someone else will if they see it.

Item [Silver Ring] has been added to the Team Inventory.

You continue your search inside the store, and while there are many tons of products to look at, you know you could spend all day and all night browsing each and every shelf. Still, you don't really find anything else on the inside that sticks out as being strangely unusual.

You then head outside back into the dark of the night, taking your search around the exterior of the store. As you search around the perimeter of the building, you have that longing of wanting to be back inside where the lights are on and it's definitely much more interesting, but still, you keep looking for anything that stands out.

When you get to the parking lot, you notice a small pile of trash and what appears to be a small puddle of blood here. As you take a closer look, it almost seems like someone went running through here and stepped on the sharp edge of a loose pop top to a can, which looks like it painfully dug a red scale out of their foot or leg. Still, despite taking that injury, it looks like they didn't stop and kept running. You can only imagine what for...

You decide to take the red scale, wondering if maybe the Pokémon was in fact a Stalker. Right now, it's a bit too dark to really get the whole story, but you're thinking maybe more answers will come out of this in time.

Pokémon Sample [Red Scale] has been added to the Team Inventory.

You make one last sweep around the ApexMart building, but you don't find anything else that stands out. Despite a long search, you feel you've done pretty well and you then head back to base.

#24 Shala the Mandibuzz has been murdered by the Stalkers.

Location: Short distance south of Another Round Tavern
Cause of Death: Vicious repeated stabbing and loss of blood

Lexin the Flygon looked down at Shala's body. She had been viciously stabbed repeatedly and just about every one of her vulture feathers was soaked with blood. Meanwhile, the look on her face looked like she was choking on her own blood for a least a minute while whoever had gutted her kept going. Around the dead buzzard's body, it seemed as though every drop of her blood had leaked out, creating a large puddle of crimson life fluids around her.

"I estimate she was stabbed at least about fifty to sixty times," Kanja muttered, observing Shala's corpse.

"Oh, ya think?" Sten the Bellossom questioned her with an eye roll as he took another photograph with his camera. "Or maybe it was about seventy? What the hell does it matter, Kanja, she looks like someone decided to gut a Goldeen with a jackhammer!"

"Enough," Lexin stated in a cold voice, still looking at Shala's body. "Kanja, you were out on patrol tonight. Did you hear anything before this was called in?"

"Figures I did my rounds on the east side rather than the west side when this happened," Kanja sighed. "No, I only found out when you did. Say, did the governor get back to you regarding the installation of those security cameras you asked for?"

"...No," Lexin stated, looking a bit angered. "We'll need to work without them."

Meanwhile, Sten took another photograph, jotted down a few notes, and then switched angles.

"I checked with Deen, the barkeeper at the tavern," Kanja told Lexin. "He told me Shala had been there tonight with Garen, having a few drinks as usual. Told me Garen decided to leave early while Shala decided to stay a little longer and socialize with some of the regulars until closing time. I don't get it how no one saw this happen."

"Well, sure as hell did!" Sten shrugged, taking another photograph. "Bet Garen's going to be thrilled about this when he finds out tomorrow."

"Let's not make a joke about this," Lexin told Sten, looking a little worn with his attitude. "I know this is going to hell but I'd rather not go there laughing if there's nothing we can change about it."
