Well, I don't have a PMD plot, but I do have this week off from school, and have used part of it to work on the Pokemon/SAO crossover idea I mentioned earlier. Here is the plot as is is currently written:
All they did was miss a few notifications. They were working on something else. Everyone was working on something else. Whatever was broken now could be fixed later.
Well, that's what they all thought, anyway.
But they were wrong.
Welcome to the year 2053, the fan-proclaimed "Year of Pokémon" following the long-awaited announcement that Gamefreak's arguably largest and most anticipated project, World of Pokémon Online (eventually dubbed WPO), would be entering closed beta. Some had been following the project for years, from the moment it was leaked that the famous company had set aside a team that had been labeled Silph Co. Studios, others had only hopped on when their friends told them, or stumbled upon online speculation, some even waited to join the party until official information was released, but no matter how they got there, all were excited to see the game they had long waited for take a huge step towards completion. As a game developed for the now thriving virtual reality gaming market, World of Pokémon Online was intended to bring its players even closer to the odd creatures they loved through the use of "full dive" virtual reality, and those selected to participate in the game's closed beta were chosen not only because they were skilled MMO players, but for their love of Pokémon as well.
However, shortly after the beta went live, tragedy struck. Every member of the technical team got the message at the same time--someone was hacking their way into the system. This message went ignored, as the team members assumed it was just another bug report. A second alert went out, only to be ignored for much the same reasons the first had been.
It wasn't until the virus had been set loose that the system went haywire, and sent out a rather hard to miss pop-up notification, and by then it was too late.
They called it "Darkrai's Kiss," as it turned the game, any Pokémon fan's dream, into a terrible nightmare they were incapable of waking up from. The virus contained programming that forcibly removed the logout button from users’menus, and turned the full dive VR gear against its user. If the user lost a Pokémon battle outside of designated safe zones within the game, the virus triggered a kill switch which had the gear essentially fry the blacked out user's brain. The same kill switch would also be implemented if someone from the outside attempted to remove the gear from the user. Known admins and other players of high position lost their higher position privileges. Those left are now being forced at adapt--what was once a game is now becoming their reality, their dream come true with a twist, their new nightmare.
However, there is a way out. Those who hacked their way into the system and planted the virus are part of the selected beta players, and form the guild known as Team Endgame. The leader of Team Endgame has promised that there is a way to stop the virus—by defeating him where he lies in wait as the champion of the game’s Pokémon League. To get there, however, players will need to defeat the other members of Team Endgame and face the challenges the game had in store for them to begin with. Will they be able to do it?
Nothing hugely long, but there it is. I'm currently working out explanations of in-game mechanics, particularly class explanations and such. RPers will be working with a new region for the game, so I'll be putting some work into town descriptions and maybe try my hand at making a map, and important NPC lists as well. If anyone wants to make specific suggestions for any of these, I'm all ears.
