As a kid I liked temporary tattoos, but they usually don't last much more beyond 24 hours. Then they crack, peel and flake away, and they're just eh.

If I got a permanent tattoo, I think I'd go for a badass-looking dragon or some of those tribal designs, but eh, I don't feel confident I'd want to be stuck with them for the rest of my life. So yeah.
