That was it. Alice was out of Pokemon. Finn was the only one left, and he was too weak to battle any more. He puffed protectively by her side as the grunt leered at her and the Parasect clicked its fangs.

Alice grabbed the last Pokeball from her bag. The one she had yet to open. "I need you right now," she said quietly. "I know I haven't earned your respect yet, but if you can battle for me now, I promise I will be the best trainer I can be."

Alice released the Pokemon. A small brown dinosaur looked from side to side, incredibly alert and unfazed by its change in condition. It sniffed the air, let out a growl and then ran at Alice. "Tyrunt! Please, Bite that Parasect!"

The Tyrunt kept running. Right before it could reach her, Finn lunged forward. The Tyrunt pulled up short, snorted and then took off in the other direction.

The grunt seemed to be getting impatient. Alice knew she was embarrassing herself, but there was no other option. She needed Tyrunt to fight for her.

The Parasect had enough. It scuttled at Tyrunt, raising its arm in a Slash attack. Tyrunt dodged, but still refused to attack.

Alice rummaged in her bag for something that could help... and then she found it, a Belue Berry! "Hey! Tyrunt!" Alice called. The Pokemon didn't even look at her. She pulled out the berry and dangled it in the air. The dinosaur spun around, and sniffed cautiously. His eyes locked onto the berry and he began to stalk toward Alice. Finn bristled by her side.

"If you can defeat that Parasect, I'll give you this nice juicy berry," Alice said.

"Ruuu!" the dinosaur growled and lunged forward at Alice. Finn knocked him backward. "This is your last chance." Alice said sternly. "If you won't battle, then Finn will get the berry instead." She held it near Finn, who sniffed it.

"Tyruuu!" the Tyrunt roared. It leapt at the Parasect, slashing with its feet and biting with its jaws. The mushroom Pokemon twitched helplessly on the ground.

"Enough!" Alice yelled. She threw the berry into the air, and the Tyrunt grabbed it greedily. Alice returned him to his Pokeball.

Alice breathed a sigh of relief. It had been close, but they had pulled it off. She would need to put a lot of work into training her Tyrunt, but there was no time to think about that now. She checked her bag, making sure that the amber and the egg were safe and sound.
