For instance, in Drawn Art, someone was given 10 for Theme, 9 for Creativity, 8 for Artistic and 8 for Effort, but ended up with 36 in Total instead of 35.

I have seen such errors in a lot of categories throughout the 3 weeks of judging and, in some cases, it would change the scoring considerably... It is probably too late to correct all theses mistakes, but I would advice all the participants and their teammates to double check to see if the points add up from now on. :)
I'll admit, there's been a few times I was caught red-handed messing up the overall scoring. XD

Still, when someone did, quickly checked it out, see where the miscalculation happened, and adjusted things so it wouldn't happen again. I decided to use an Excel spreadsheet with formulas for accuracy, but sometimes a little debugging is needed. But yeah, having that extra set of eyes helps, since judging isn't always easy, especially if there's a ton of entries to judge.

Like you said, it might be too late to go back and correct all these things, but the very SECOND you see an error like that pop up again, mention the judge right away and I'm sure they'll fix it. Or, if they don't within 24 hours, poke one of us goofy WAR Leaders and we'll whip out the calculator to double check. I'm sure that kind of thing wasn't done on purpose.

    Math is evil sometimes. XD

I recently had a nightmare where I was still taking classes for my MBA, it was the diabolical final exam of an ungodly difficult Calculus class I had forgotten to attend all semester, and the equations started incorporating Japanese kanji characters! What... the... $&@#*!?

So yeah, Math and I have never been friends. XP

Please don't talk about how difficult Calculus is. I have to take that next year and I want to be surprised about how difficult it is.

I was away for a while, but I will definetly watch over the rest of the grades and report any miscalculations.

I'm a little confused as to why it'd be so hard to go back and recalculate the previous week's scores and make sure they're right. WAR Humor and Drawn Art had their scoring redone for week 2, and those scores were recalculated, so why not just double check the math in all the sections, or at least the ones Pyrkagias said (but really probably all of them), and make sure everything's right? If there's errors, it could affect the overall scoring. If you can do it for 2 sections, why not do it for all of them?

It doesn't really feel like it's too late. We're only going into week 4. Better it's a mistake corrected now than to see it corrected later and a team incorrectly named the winners because no one wanted to go back and check the scoring when someone brought up that it was off for several weeks.

Yeah, no you're right, shouldn't be lazy about making sure it's done correctly.

I'll try to go through a few of the sections to verify, but if some people could also volunteer to double check things were added up correctly, it would be a big help. Let us know what you checked and if the results were clean or if there's an adjustment that needs to be made.

How do we know if the judge made a mistake on the final score or on one of the intermediate scores though? :O Maybe they felt one entry was better than another so tweaked points at the end to make sure that was reflected in the final score, but forgot to update something. They posted who they thought came first, second and third, so that's probably how they meant it to be scored overall, even if they made a mistake in the maths...

Anyway if there are big discrepancies, it's probably a good idea to ask the judge to make the final call rather than just going off a part of their scoring. xD
