The Mage is the protagonist, silly! But he follows the command regardless.

The Mage's bedroom is quite bare and simple. In one corner, as you'd expect, is his bed. Above the bed hangs a map of the surrounding countryside. In another corner is a MAGIC CHEST, holding a bunch of the Mage's belongings. He should probably get his things before he heads off to the ARCHMAGE's tower. Also, there is a door leading to a corridor outside.
