    Do you want children?

I do not want children. I like kids but I don't want my own. The prospect has never appealed to me in any way, and I have absolutely no intention to have them in the future.

Do I have a problem with people who want children? Absolutely not. What I really hate? When people say in response to my view: "Oh, but you might change your mind when you're older." ...Um...what? If someone told me that they do want kids and I said, "Oh, but you might change your mind in the future," then I'm sure I'd get weird looks. Just a little annoying. xD

    Anyway, what's your answer?

Yup. It would be fun to unleash my minions when I have to make some quick escapes from my house when I dnt have any valid reason to go out.

I mean all in all I dnt like kids. Not saying I hate them but they can really be so darn irritating at times lol..little devils they can be at times..but my kid? Hahaha can't wait to share with them my experiences..ABOUT POKEMON!

I personally really want kids. Purely to tell them of all the stupid s*** I have done, and hope to God they don't do it (A for their safety and B I wouldn't want to be one upped)

I always did when it seemed like something far away. I figure most people just assume they will one day. Now the older and therefore closer I get, the more unsure I feel. Having kids is really time consuming and expensive and there are so many things I want to do (like have a career!) that make it seem impossible sometimes. But I guess I do want them. I imagine it's one of the most rewarding things you can do (unless they turn out to be brats or something). I think it would be sad not to have a family as I got older, especially as I am an introvert and don't have many close (not online) friends. I would need to buy 50 cats instead. xD

And Xanthe, that is a great point about telling people they'll change their minds about wanting kids haha!

As a child, I always knew there was something that separated me from other girls. As I have found out, I'm not good with children at all. I want to strangle them most of the time. I actually have many fears that if I become a mother, I won't be a good one and might accidentally hurt my children. I also fear when I have children I'll turn into my mother, which is not something I want to happen. I really, for whatever reason, want to have kids. While I don't spend time picking out baby names (though it's a joke amongst my friends that I'll name my first son Tetro for reasons I can delve into if you'd like), I still want to have kids. And I know this sounds weird, but I don't want to just adopt a kid. Now, if it came down to it, sure I'd adopt one, but my preference is actually having my own kid. I don't know why but I've always wanted to get pregnant and have my own kid and that's just what I want to happen. But, I'm still afraid I'll turn out to be a terrible mother and so I'm finding myself more and more on the fence with this topic.

I should also probably mention that I don't get a decision in this anyway, because my religion is kind of against contraception and such. So even if I didn't want a kid, if I get pregnant, I'm stuck because Catholicism says no contraception, no birth control, and ABSOLUTELY no abortion.

Don't get me wrong, I love interacting with (well behaved) kids, but I just don't see myself as a mom. First of all, I don't want to get involved in the so-called "mommy wars", second of all, just raising one to age 18 (not counting college education) is at least a quarter of a million dollars, and third, 7.1 billion people on the plant is more than enough, and I don't feel the urge to contribute any more.

As of now, I can say that I don't think I want kids, but considering I'm only seventeen it's a bit early yet to decide. There's chance later on I'll end up changing my mind on that. All I know is that If I decide I want kids, I want to wait as long as possible before having them.

Could I be a fun, cool, and awesome dad? I think so. I'd love to do fun stuff with them like play video games with them, throw cool parties, go to Disney World, and that kind of fun fluff.

But do I want kids? I don't think I can. I barely make enough money to support myself, so there's no way I'd be able to afford college for them. And the VERY LAST thing I'd ever want is to see my own kids suffer because of my own bad financial mistakes. I'd never be able to live with myself if that kind of thing happened. Having kids is a HUGE responsibility and I would just want the best life for them I can provide. But right now, I just don't have the means to do that.

I'm 17 and I am stone cold absolutely positively CERTAIN I do not want kids. I do have a maternal instinct of some sorts (despite being male, but u kno), and I know that if I had my own child, I would love it, but I don't like other people's babies/infants. But yeah, children are so so so so so so SO embarrassing to take out into public, and after spending practically the whole summer with my cousin and her baby (who is currently screaming downstairs)...let's just say I didn't want kids before, and I definitely don't now. They're frustrating, pretty nasty and messy, and very costly. I literally cannot wait to not have kids and spend all of my money on myself.

Even though I don't understand why anyone would want children, I have nothing against people who want/have kids because evolution drives most everyone to want to pass on their genes. Though, I honestly think people without a stable, hearty income and negative background shouldn't have kids. I don't think kids should have to endure hard lives because their parents are poverty-stricken/in and out of jail/struggling with addictions/etc, even if it's not the fault of the parent (such as cases of poverty). I understand that someone who might be poor would want children, but if I were in that situation, I wouldn't, to spare my child a difficult life. Not that I'm advocating for forced sterilization, but I just don't think parents should have children unless they're financially stable and committed to taking responsibility for another human for 18+ years.
