I wouldn't really say I take care of myself...I groom myself regularly and tend to avoid junk food, but I don't really exercise and have opted for not eating a lot to lose/maintain weight instead. While I usually eat 1-2 meals daily, there was about a one year period of severe depression where I wouldn't eat for as many as three or four days, or when I'd binge eat and then purge. I acknowledge that it wasn't healthy, but I did lose around 50 lbs during that period, and have since lost about 20 more (I used to weigh 230, and now I weigh 160). Similarly, during that rough period, I briefly engaged in self-harm and started smoking cigarettes (which I still do). And, like many teenagers, I've dabbled in alcohol and drugs (only marijuana).
Me taking care of myself is mostly for my appearance, which I'm more worried about than my health, tbh, since that's largely what other people see. I keep my health well enough so I look good. Like, I drink a lot of water to keep my skin looking good, and moisturize for the same reasons. It sounds rather vain, but I don't do it for myself as much as I do for other people. But I do wish I had the energy/motivation to stick to more healthy plans...
