    Routines

Do you have any specific routines for things? Big things? Little things?

I don't have a general routine for my days, but I do have routines for the order in which I clean myself in the shower; the order in which I dry myself after a shower and the order in which I brush my teeth. They're more muscle memory things than anything else, but I like having them.

    How about you?!

My dad has a kind of weekly meal routine where the lunch he eats on Tuesday will be the same as last Tuesday, and what he has for breakfast on Thursday will be the same as last week and so on, and I've been trying to snap him out of that before it drives me crazy.

When going to sleep, I floss first, then brush, then take out my contacts, mainly because I hear it's better to floss before brushing, and I save the contacts for last so I can still clearly see what I'm doing until I'm all done. In the morning, I take a shower, then eat breakfast, and then brush my teeth and shave. If I try to shave immediately after taking a shower, my face is still wet and moist, so the electric shaver doesn't work too well. So, those are the reasons for my insanity. :P

I also tend to keep my wallet and keys in my right pocket and my smartphone and MP3 player in my left pocket. It helps so I know where they are and so no one pocket is overstuffed (also helps me make sure I didn't lose anything or leave something behind). If I accidentally put my keys in my left pocket and don't find them when I look for them in my right pocket, I do have a mini panic attack though before searching the left one.

I also have a specific routine to drying myself after a shower, and I guess I aim to have my shower at the same time every day (at least during the week).

For most other things, I easily get disaffected and bored by standard routines. I like to mix it up. My job does help with this too, as my daily routine depends on where I am working.

I am not a man of routines. I keep a couple rules for myself, always waking up no later than 10:00, and never sleeping later than 02:00. Lunch is always between the 12:00 and 14:00. If it's later than 8:00 and you haven't had breakfast, skip it. It's not actually the most important meal of the day anyway, those studies are full of it. If I accidentally say the time in 12 hour style, I've gotta correct it. That's pretty much it, honestly.

I am pretty routine-ful. In the morning I press snooze 1-3 times depending on how tired I feel. Then I get up and make my lunch to take with me. I then have breakfast (porridge in winter, yoghurt + cereal in summer or toast if that stuff isn't available. Also usually toast on weekends.). Then I brush my teeth, have a shower, get dressed and go!

Same with going to bed. I always brush my teeth first then go to the bathroom then get changed.

If I don't do things in order, I forget to do them. @_@

    • Sleep
    • Get up before class
    • Class
    • Squeeze lunch in somewhere (I don't do breakfast that often)
    • Dinner after class
    • HW/leisure time
    • Sleep
    • Wake up for no damn reason
    • Sleep
    • Wake up for class
    • etc.

In all seriousness, right now it depends on A. if I have class, and B. what time class is (if I have it). Monday/Wednesday I have class at 10:00, so I aim to wake up by 9:30. (My body likes to wake me up earlier than I want to...) On Tuesday, I don't have class until 16:00 while on Thursday I don't have class until 13:00, so I usually sleep in 'til 11:00. On each day of my three-day weekend, I try to wake up by 11:00 but may wake up later depending on how late I stay up.

As for everything else, I eat lunch either before or after class if I have it (before on Tuesday/Thursday, after on Wednesday, before/after on Monday since I have time between classes); if I have off I try to get in the cafeteria before it closes. Dinner I try to go to around when it opens (5:00 on weekdays; 4:30 on the weekends). During the rest of the time I either nap/play video games/browse the Internet/watch stuff/do homework/what have you. Bedtime ranges between 1:00 to 4:00, but given how my room is a damned sauna (~80-90 degrees, and no I cannot control the temperature.........) it often takes me anywhere between a half hour to two hours to fall asleep.

Outside of school, I'm pretty flexible. Since I'm usually at home when I'm not in college, I may go out with my parents, or they may go out and I stay home, or we all stay home, and so forth. Waking/sleeping times are usually similar to the times I wake/sleep on the weekend.

EDIT: I forgot to add "occasionally stay up all night on iPad or playing video games even when I have class". I've been doing this more frequently—not, say, once a week frequent, but I definitely didn't do this too much a couple years ago. Also still won't forget the time where I played Rune Factory 4 until 5 in the morning seven days (five or six being consecutive).

Everyone's responses to this thread are so fascinating! I didn't expect such a big response but that's awesome. xD I like that people have routines. Though @Neo Emolga your dad's eating schedule sounds like it would drive me mad too. XD @Pokemon Trainer Sarah I love how you'd forget them if you didn't do them in order. xD Fascinating!

I actually forgot to brush my teeth this morning because I was gonna do it after I showered ;_; I was in the car and I was like wait a second...

Luckily I had some mints and I was only at uni for a couple hours before having to come home to take my mum to an appointment. XD

yous know me! i even vary how i TYPE from day to day. somethimes it's "you" somethimes i add an "s" somethimes i say "anyhow" somethimes "anyways" somethimes i use brittish slang! or say me instead of my.
point is, routines are dull, and i like to live my life to the fullest by somethimes taking my socks on before my pants!

i think the most predictable thing about me is that i'll always somehow tell you that i like volvos. and you should too.
