What is a magpie? The name sounds familiar. Do we have those here lol? Yeah, I just googled it and I'm pretty sure we don't, but they are cool looking. On a serious note, since I really didn't give any kind of serious answer, I'm kinda indifferent to crows. They are everywhere and they sound kinda annoying, but whatever.
Magpies are smaller than ravens (dunno about crows?) and are black and white. They're native to Australia and make a 'warble' sound. They're also the mascot for the Collingwood Football Club. :p /ihatefootball

Also I've been swooped by them on several occasions. They do not like me. 3<

They can be VERY cute, though, and also very friendly. But yeah...swooping isn't good. My grandma has this fantastic story about how she and my grandpa took in a baby who was injured, and who eventually grew to love them and would follow them around their house (XD). They taught her to fly, and then one day she left and didn't come back for a while. Then she came back and asked for food every day, and brought a mate! Then later on, she brought her babies, and then the babies grew up and brought their children. It stopped after that, but so fascinating! And so beautiful. Can you imagine this beautiful little magpie telling her children about these nice people who saved her life and gave her another chance? ;w;
Lol so is my dog! xD Honestly he's more like a cat than a dog, though.. FRIENDLY? Did you just say magpies were FRIENDLY? ;n; Not to me! My dad rescued a maggie when I was little. All I know is it was cute and he wouldn't let me touch it. Eventually it started following him around too lol, but then it flew away when it was better. That's a really cool story though! Imagine, bringing the generations by to visit. <3 So cute!

Well I don't have those types of course, but there is a family of birds that always tends to come back here and make a nest someone on op my house here. At least it has for the past 4 years. Last year it was open an odd place too xD. So I know what having generation(s) of birds come by each year is like. Each year there's always little baby birds in the nest by the time we find it.

    The time is upon us...

That thing sounds like a cat trying to cough up a hairball. So cute
Hahah, yes, they're very talkative. Rather developed vocal chords. XD They're not as loud as cockatoos though. My, those things can be loud af. But so cute omg.

And so cheeky! (You hear this one squawk. And @Dragon Master Mike there's a magpie in the background, haha.)

/turns this thread into a thread about all birds

Lel cat dogs. YES THEY CAN BE. Except in baby season. xD Aww that's adorable. <3 We found a baby possum a little while ago. I was driving and luckily I spotted it in the dark. It was sooooo cute and curled up into my dad's hand and refused to go onto a tree. xD

Oh my goodness, Cockatoo really ARE loud. I've met some people with them as pets. Additionally I guess I never realized Cockatoo are found in the wild since I only see them as pets xD

But I knoooooowwww, birds are just seriously cute af
They are a lot smarter than we give them credit for...and they have a lot of personality.

Chickens! Chickens are seen mostly as just a livestock animal, but oh no no no. They're silly little things. They all have their own personality. They CAN become attached to their owners, too. AMG CHICKENS ARE SO CUTE. I miss my babies back at my parents house D:

I just found out the things we have here are ravens not crows so I don't think anything about them. xD

I like magpies! I started feeding one and it would come up to the door when it saw me and eat out of my hand! So cute! But my dog who is a giant border collie is terrified of birds so I had to stop. :(

I didn't think cockatoos were allowed to be kept as pets. We've got 'em all in the wild here, and in nature reserves and such, too. When a bunch of them get together they can be REALLY loud. xD

Haha, that's awesome you know people with pet cockatoos! I've seen heaps of people on youtube...and none of them are Australian. They're also not sulfur-crested cockatoos that I see being kept as pets, so maybe sulfurs are protected but others aren't? (Also it's cockatoos for plural. cx)

I agree. I really do. I have a cockatiel (who we adopted) and although she's rude and pretty snarky, she LOVES me and I love her too. c: Not as smart or outgoing as a cockatoo though, of course, since they're half the size (or less).

Same. I hate that chickens are seen as food and egg layers and that's it. In the future, when I have my own place, I want pet chickens because I love them. But I'm gonna rescue them from the industries, because those poor babies need homes. <3 We have a chicken, Fluffy (I think she's an isa brown?) who turns eleven this July... She's definitely smarter than my cat. To think that she was almost someone's fleeting dinner ten and a half years ago, and yet she's brought so much more to us, just one family. I will cry for weeks when she finally goes.

XD I didn't know until recently either!

Haha aw. <3 They're so tame. LOL he's terrified! Aww, so sad but cute. XD

lol you have Cockatoos in the wild in Australia? That is so cool lol. You Australians have all the cool stuff. Well, We have... Uhm. bluejays? Seriously though, your birds are bigger than ours. We have swans and herons and eagles and such, but I've never seen a bird as big as that right in my backyard (Bar the time a great blue heron landed there). That's so funny though, it's just waving its wings around like, "NOTICE ME!"

lmao Sarah your dog afraid of birds. That's fine, my dog growls at leaves getting blown around.

Yeah. I see them all the time. They're actually a suburb or two over (like a five minute drive) and not in my backyard, although on very rare occasions they visit. xD I've never been up close to one other than when I went on a school excursion one day to a reserve where the wild birds were not quite so wild because they knew that all the humans there would feed them! xD Lel. I do love our wildlife. Our possums - although freakin' loud and obnoxious - can be quite tame and will take food out of your hand to eat it.

My cat is afraid of my chickens. xD Lol DMM is your dog little?

I think crows are amazing because they're so intelligent. Like, they can remember the faces of people that they deem dangerous and send out appropriate warning calls to other crows! And there's also that story where crows gave gifts to a girl that fed them.
