Home defense and range practice. Unfortunately, our home was broken into before, but thankfully no one was home at the time (I shudder to think what would have happened if someone was home in bed asleep or sick). The guy who robbed us tore a massive hole through our basement to break into the house, broke a lot of stuff, stole money and jewelry, and threw furniture around all over the place. Yeah, if someone who does stuff like that comes along to do that kind of thing and they don't care we're still in the house, I'd rather not be looking at the edge of a switch knife when I see them and not have some kind of response. And calling the police isn't good enough if way too much can happen while they're on their way (I've had to dial 911 before, they're not very fast at all and it was a good 15 minutes of staying on the line before we got help). That, and if the rest of the world goes to hell in a hand-basket, I don't want a firearm to be one of those things we "wish we got when we had the chance" but can no longer get.
And donuts are always good, but I wish they were healthier. :x
