Morally, there's nothing wrong with a third party vote. But the electoral college is set up in such a way that voting for a third party candidate is effectively throwing your vote away. Even if a majority of the people in your state vote for that person (which will almost certainly not happen), each state has only a small representation in the electoral college, so TL;DR, third party candidates are unfortunately not going to get anywhere. While technically voting for anyone is making your voice heard, your voice is a heck of a lot more likely to carry when you vote for either the Republican or Democratic candidate. I'm with Corey on this one; if you don't at least try to take action to prevent an outcome you don't want, you aren't in a particularly good position to complain if that outcome occurs.

I personally agree that the current system is a load of crap and needs a massive overhaul, and that our political arena needs to be open rather than being dominated by the rich and well-connected. However, in my not-so-humble opinion, right now we need to be focused on not electing a racist, misogynistic hatemonger who's probably going to start World War III because someone justly insulted his toupee.

EDIT: I forgot to mention this, but I find myself aligning with the right end of the political spectrum on most issues, though given the state of the party right now I don't deign to call myself a Republican. The fact that I am actively rooting for the Democratic candidate and nearly have panic attacks when I think of the Republican candidate winning is... telling, I think.

Yes. If you write-in, the electoral college will just put your vote forth to the majority vote of your state. So I'm not voting.

Everyone says they're going to write-in for a third party but it won't do them any good. Just DON'T vote. Protest entirely if you don't like the candidates. If only everyone were to have this mindset, though...maybe that would force the higher-ups to DO SOMETHING about it.

I know this sounds bad, but I've just stopped worrying; I know I'm ****ed either way, really. It's just like, whatever, you know? I LIVE in this nation and I feel like I'm watching this trainwreck happen from the sidelines.

And I agree with Mike in that there IS no lesser evil. They're both bad, just in different ways.

Don't mind me saying, but I'm reading between the lines and I'm seeing: "Don't vote for Trump, he's awful!" + "Voting for third party candidates is pointless and I totally disagree with it!" + "Everyone needs to vote! Please vote!" = Vote for Hillary.

Sorry, but I really just don't like Hillary either. If you feel she wasn't responsible for Benghazi and feel she didn't lie about the deleted emails and such, I would need sources for that, because I'm not sure where this information is coming from. If this is something you heard about on Facebook or Reddit, you definitely need to question those sources. Misinformation can spread very, very quickly if it's exactly the thing people want to hear, regardless of whether it's true or not. Please be careful about what you read.

I need to agree with Speed and Mike on this one. Write-in doesn't work. You're better off not voting, which is probably what I'm going to do. I feel the next two months are only going to get uglier and I doubt either party will convince me that their candidate is a credible and trustworthy person. I'm honestly not a fan of Gary Johnson either.

It's sad to see this is what we're handed when there's much better out there.

To pollsters, not voting out of protest against the establishment is the same as not voting out of apathy.
    What is happiness?
    It's being called by someone
It's being able to call someone
It's when someone is thinking of you
But Heaven has none of this
A lizard girl took pity on God
So the lizard girl tore God in two and brought a half from Heaven to Earth

Pretty much, yeah. I wasn't trying to be underhanded about it or anything. I despise Hillary, but the term "lesser of two evils" comes to mind.

Trump is gonna cause massive, global damage, honestly. xD I don't normally care about US politics but you can't let that guy loose on us! O_O

As Kenny said, I don't think not voting is a protest. They don't care if you don't vote. But if you vote for a third party at least that is showing that you're fed up with the main candidates. And even if it amounts to nothing, at least you made an effort. :(

/really glad voting is compulsory here... keeps the crazies out of power. XD

I love how I made this like four months ago and it is becoming really popular now.

Though I will be avoiding commentating because of the shame that I must bear as my party's candidate.
