When People Come and Go

Have you had anyone who came into your life, made a big difference, and then disappeared? I've never had that happened irl, but I have on the internet...which obviously makes it harder to get into contact with people.

I had this one friend who went by Ultimate #1 Flareon Fan and obviously we became fast friends. We were the same age, had similar interests, got along really well and had a great time just being young people on the interwebz! I spoke to her around...I don't know, 2008-2010? And then she vanished. She had several accounts on many sites, such as Pe2k, YouTube, random virtual pet sites, Serebii, PokeCommunity... But she vanished. I used to do this roleplay with her which was lots of fun, and we were good friends. xD Come to think of it, we only knew each other for two or so years. But it's weird...every once in a while, I'll try to stalk her again. She could easily have contacted me on sites if she had wanted to, but she never has.

I also noticed that...she vanished from all sites in 2010. On every site I go to where I've stalked her to, her last period of activity was 2010. What are the chances that someone who loved those sites and went on them all frequently would suddenly stop going on all of them and fall out of contact with people in the same year? I have a feeling that something happened, or...she died.


It's just weird to think that people can come in and out of your life. Some you remember forever. Some you don't. Some you were friends with and still see around years later, but the rift between you is impossible to heal, and you know you'll never be friends again. It's kind of sad.

This topic is totally speaking to me! This is actually why I came here.

Around 2009 I joined this small forum where I became close friends with a group of people. I brought them all from another forum to join me and we all just got along really well. For years we'd talk and laugh and share our stories, with some little falling-outs here and there--mostly with me at one end. And then I guess life just caught up with us. One by one everyone left and now the forum's basically dead. Still have them on Skype, but we rarely talk. It's been years.

There are only a few I still talk to nowadays, and even that's gotten kinda scarce. For the past couple years, I've had one friend I'd talk to almost on a daily basis. And that was enough to make me happy. But now offline life's caught up with him, too, and we'd go weeks without exchanging a word. I've thought it kind of ironic that I was the one who brought us all together, yet I'm also the one who never found much else.

I remember as the forum was declining in activity, one of my friends was really sad. And I promised her that I'd bring back the old days. Turns out I wasn't able to keep that promise, but she's doing fine nowadays with her own things. I know those days are gone forever, but I'm thankful for them.

The only one of that group I still talk to regularly is @ESPER. (Love ya lots! <3)

So I figured I'd start foruming again and meet new people, since I've been pretty bored. And I found this place. <3

XD No, it's not depressing! I mean, it is a little, but it's what happens. I am so grateful that I have friends here who I have had for so many years who I still have the privilege of knowing. Some of them have been here the whole time, while others left for a while and came back, then left, then came back! xD @Daughter of Mew. I'm very grateful for PXR. If Pe2k had died and all these people who I'd met had dispersed and we never migrated to one place, then I'd probably not know most of them anymore. :c

lots a people. too many, never had anyone die or anything tho, i mean other than old relatives. just cut contact.
kinda depressing really, and i still have hope some of these people will make it back into my life.
but untill that day i'm gonna just cling on to the people i still have contact with, nothing scares me more than being left alone :/

SO many people from PE2K and such. They've been gone for years and I often wonder how life is going for them. It's hard, because you never realize the exact moment they've left for good. They just become less active and you think they'll be back when life gets a little easier for them and then bang, you never hear from them again.

Some names that come to mind are:

Draconic_Espeon, Tiana_M, Knightblazer, Dr Scott, Alakazam (Brian), Dap (dapkmnguy), Tamer-San, Marill (Chad), Johto Island Girl, JohtoTrainer, Hoshika, Finch, RocketMeowth, LordZangoose, Tombi, and I'm sure there's many more I can't think of off-hand.

I really wonder what happened to all those guys.

These three really stick out to me:

- A guy called Spencer, aka MenceMaster/KromeKiller. Me and him were really close (we also had a weird 13 year old online kind-of-relationship as well but let's not talk about that). Xan may remember him from the website and forum I used to run because he was a horrible person and scared off all potential members. Funnily enough, we follow each other on Instagram but don't talk anymore.
- Shadow_Lucario8 who again, I was really good friends with and may have been the first person I talked to on PE2k. I seem to remember we were part of some kind of D/P/P battling clan. We fell out of contact eventually and he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
- SadisticBlaziken, who was friends with me and Shadow_Lucario8. He was kinda weird and liked finding people's Facebook profiles from the details they posted on the forums.

Obviously there's others. Tombi, who I'm hoping to try and find at the upcoming London Comicon - her cospays are next level so hopefully it won't be too hard. A guy called Maaz, who was from Pakistan and I worried about a lot, and another called AJ whose forum I moderated. Angela, who claimed to be a beautiful lady but was actually two Icelandic siblings. There's a lot more, but I can't remember their usernames off the top of my head

One of my biggest fears in life is that one day something will happen to me or one of you and you'll just disappear and we'll never know.

Having people come and go happens to me quite a bit irl, too many times to count. Rarely do important people come back to me, but on the internet, no not really. For the most part I don't leave sites that I am on once I am on them. The only time I fell out of contact with people was when I left the original Pokefarm like two years ago. I don't really wonder what they're up to because we never really kept in touch.

I guess this is sadly just a thing that is likely to happen on the internet. It has happened to me a bunch of times. I had a friend like 10 years ago now and we used to chat every day and he even flew down to visit a few times (he was in another state). We got on so well. Like we had the exact same sense of humour which just meant we spent the whole time laughing at ridiculous things. Once when he came to visit, we spent the whole day visiting every single McDonalds in the city because he worked at a McDonalds and got employee discounts. XD Just random stuff like that. It was awesome. He got a new job and became really busy so we sort of lost touch but I still had him on facebook. He was always threatening to delete facebook so when he completely disappeared off there, I assumed that was what happened. But I thought about him the other day and tried to send him an email just saying I hoped his life was going awesome. But it bounced back. :( So I searched him on facebook just for fun and found that he actually was still on facebook and we had old mutual friends so it's not like he just made a brand new one recently. So I guess he just deleted me. I have no idea why! We haven't spoken in YEARS now but it still made me a bit sad. I sort of wish I never found that out because it was nicer to think we just drifted apart rather than colouring those old good memories in a bad way.

I also think about random people from time to time and wonder how they're doing. I don't know if anyone remembers May Norman from PE2K but she was a really close friend though these days I feel like 90% of stuff she said were lies. xD

Omf Finch, RM, Hoshi, Tombi. <3 And then for me, k_pop and Mitchell. <3 I MISS THEM ALL. *O* Too bad @Shen isn't on more often! *prods with a stick* RM's fic, Team 9 Lives, is what dragged me to PE2K in the fist place. I used to lurk so much reading that fic - and yours, Neo xD - before I eventually signed up.

I had a forum friend on PE2K for about...four years. xD We got off to a horribly rocky start. He was opinionated, overly sarcastic and completely random. The reason we actually starting talking was over an argument. XD So I hoped to sort that out and then go our separate ways. Well, ironically, we ended up becoming friends after that and spoke almost every day. He's not here anymore, and he left when PE2K died (although we had a falling out before that). But I still miss him and wonder what he's up to. He was an awesome friend. xD

AND OMG @Pokemon Trainer Sarah I MISS MAY. XD She was completely random and weird, but she helped me out a lot and I owe her for that. She was great.
