Most people I know view Trump as nothing more than a joke, but at the same time we're all fearing that there is a chance he could get into power. His most notable plans are huge steps backwards for the world as we know it, especially because a lot of problems already stem from borders, so literally cementing them with a solid wall will just create a huge amount of problems, assuming he's allowed to do that and there aren't all kinds of mass protests. His other attitudes are also extremely pigheaded and ignorant, and as such he is unworthy to be in charge of even his own businesses, let alone an entire country.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Hillary Clinton (if only Bernie Sanders was the Democratic candidate), but at least she won't instantly plunge America - and possible the rest of the world - into chaos and potentially war. I am and have always been left-wing in terms of my political views, so I want the Democrats to win by default, but it seems that the Republicans and their supporters in America are even worse than the right-wing parties in Britain, and they're all plunging our country into a state of uncertainty right now. With a new Prime Minister nobody voted for (and is refusing to hold an election), at least Americans get the chance to have a vote.

This not a real choice. As I am mexican guy, with black family. I have gone through poverty and really the only party that ever says anything that at least seems helpful to me is the democratic party. I do not like Clinton whats so ever. However Trumps off the wall insane racist presidential run is forcing me to feel like I have to vote.

I hope this election destorys the two party system forever.

And I also would pick Bernie..

I don't know much about it...but yeah, I know Trump is insane and needs to go crawl under a rock (where he's been living) and never come back out. I also know that I find this entertaining:

The two-party system will continue as long as first pass the post system exists for the US.

Yeah, hate to say it, but the political system that's in place is way too entrenched and is definitely too defended by the media to ever be disrupted by public voting alone. The only realistic way you uproot an entire political system to start over is, yes, revolution. And usually that isn't considered until things get REALLY bad. Right now, they're just pretty bad. :x

Between Hillary and Trump, I choose neither. Hillary is a chronic liar and Trump is an egotist. Watching the debates should be amusing, though. For things like that, I wish Mystery Science Theater 3000 was still around for those kinds of occasions.

They say the percentage of independent voters is going up every cycle. The rate its increasing should eventually start pushing things to change more.

I agree fully. I liken what's going on in America right now to what's going on here in the UK, because our country is also facing situation where the two main parties are laughably incompetent; one is falling apart with bratty in-fighting, and the other brought in a Prime Minister nobody voted for and refuse to hold an election, even though they'd take full advantage of the other party's weakness. Other parties have been shooting up everywhere, and they're all taking their own slices from the main two. Proportional representation is the ideal method of voting, but then it leads to coalitions, which in turn lead to weaker governments. I'd just like to see it trialled for one General Election though, because I think drastic reforms are necessary; the left and right in the UK (which is for the most part separated by age) is becoming a larger divide by the day, and it's strange to see how it all unfolds.

American politics are crazy, but please, go out and VOTE!!!! If you don't vote, then you have absolutely NO right to complain about the winner, and that goes for EVERYONE. It drives me crazy when people don't vote, because voter apathy is such a huge problem. I personally am voting for Clinton, as I see her as a great candidate. I really did want Bernie to win, but Hillary is certainly a far better candidate than Trump. Trump is absolutely vile.

I don't really understand why people think Hillary a liar, because she isn't. There was a huge investigation regarding her emails, and it showed that she, in fact, did not lie and was not responsible for Benghazi (honestly, all republicans do is cry Benghazi, even after it was proven Hillary had very little to do with it). The investigation showed that Hillary's words regarding the incident were consistent with the results, and, thus, that she didn't lie. She did make a mistake, but she owned up to it, which means she is trustworthy.

I'm not trying to be hostile (just explaining a point, because there's a lot of misinformation swarming around Hillary), and I understand that many are upset with the election, but please, for the love of god, just go out and vote. Even though I completely and utterly disagree with voting for a third party candidate (who absolutely won't win in this election, at least) because it takes votes from the "main two" candidates (which is a bad thing for both republicans and democrats), it's far better than not voting at all. Please, go vote!!! I promise I'm usually not this vicious and belligerent, but I will rise from the depths of hell and come down with an iron fist shutting down anyone who complains about the results if they didn't vote. Voter apathy is a huge, huge, HUGE problem, and I can't convey that enough. It's literally ruining this country.

    PLEASE GO VOTE!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

The problem is that I honest to god don't have any preference to which candidate wins. I think that both candidates are equally bad. This isn't a matter of me not wanting to vote for the lesser evil, it's literally the fact that I don't believe there is a lesser evil. Both candidates might as well be Satan himself as far as I'm concerned. I don't care if anyone says I'm taking this too far because I honestly can't remember the last time something has made me this angry but, I think that Hillary and Trump both getting shot would be the best possible outcome of this election. For all I care this whole country might as well go burn in hell at this point. At least then the people who let things get this bad in the first place would get what they deserve.

EDIT: Alright, maybe I really did go a bit too far with that, but you get my point.

I don't see what's wrong with voting for a third party candidate, even if they have so little chance of winning. We need more parties to be involved, because it's clear people are extremely dissatisfied with their choices for leadership and that, to me, is the real problem that needs to be addressed. Voting for the lesser of two evils is something that needs to be done away with. Having a wide selection of candidates would ensure only the best of the best would make it, and that it would give people more choice to find a potential leader that closely meets their aspirations and ideals for the country's future.

Also, given the selection of candidates to vote for, I think people do have a right to complain, because there are people out there that should be leaders and can make moral, responsible, and ethical decisions that will have a positive impact on the US, but they're not given the chance to be heard for money/connections/media reasons. Because of this, I wouldn't blame someone for not voting. It's a perfectly reasonable decision to withhold one's vote because they could not find a candidate (especially with the highly limited selection) that met their personal minimum requirements to secure that person's vote and support. I don't think it's always a matter of people being too careless, too lazy, or just feel their vote doesn't matter.

I wish it was exactly the opposite. I wish it was hard to vote because all the candidates were great, charismatic, had great ideas and positive track records and made it easy to support them because we knew they would do the right thing. Sadly and unfortunately, we don't have that, but I'm hoping one day we will.
