"Honey I'm just going out for a bit"
    "Where are you going dear?"
"Oh just to the uni 50 miles away so I can have a smoke"

People don't smoke tobacco in my local park anyway (teenagers do smoke certain other things tho)
Exactly, it's ridiculous. Either ban the thing outright (not that that's a good solution) or accept the fact that a large - yet decreasing - portion of the public smoke, and that it's not like they're doing it to poison the lungs of children. I also hate how they're trying to make it normal to demonise smokers, because that just creates yet another divide in such a broken country.

I think it takes a special kind of moron to aggravate a non-smoker about the restrictions on smokers. Banning smoking indoors? Fine, I understand the logic that it could damage those that choose not to smoke, or whatever. Banning smoking in the car if you have kids? Again, the logic is there, but this seems like a grey area. Banning smoking outdoors, however, is Orwellian. Britain is becoming a dystopia more and more by the day, and it's frustrating me because our generation will be the ones left to clean up the mess (or to make it worse).

Don't get me started on my thoughts about Theresa May as a person and as a politician...

Is sad as it is, it's becoming a global problem. I was so caught up in my rant that I'd forgotten America's in an arguably worse position, considering your candidates are straight out of the electorate's nightmares. At least you get to vote for your leader, though. Not a single person voted to put The Wicked Witch in charge of the not so United Kingdom. :3

Our power to choose is still on the brink of nonexistence with the electorate colleges and tallying mishaps. They keep saying our votes are important, but I think that's just to soften the reality behind the situation.

Going back to smoking though, even though it does damage, banning it outright just seems unfair. Not everyone can quit cold-turkey. However, keeping it away from public places is important, and like alcohol, once a female becomes pregnant, the mother owes it to her kid to cut off tobacco and drugs for the sake of their kid's health. I think a slow but eventual transition to a completely non-smoking society would work better for everyone, but this isn't something that's going to happen overnight.

Yeah, politics now isn't about who votes for what; it's about who has the money to buy off the higher ups. Trump certainly has that money, so I'm definitely worried for you Americans. Although if he does get in I expect there'll be some kind of mass protest/riot within the first year or two.

An outright ban is by far the worst approach, as you said. A slow transition is also a great way to go about it, but at the same time people that want to smoke should be able to. It's one of those issues where there isn't a definite way to please everyone, and honestly I'm just worried that it'll wind up being a way to excuse a loss of freedom for those that want to smoke.
