I only got to take part in it a little, but by the time I did, I was very late to the party and barely had any idea what was going on. It was great, but it pretty much ended pretty soon after.
Oh, I read it and it does seem pretty neat! I went through it and was like "yep, she's definitely a writer." There's a lot of interesting and juicy concepts in there. It's the kind of thing that would also make a neat video game.
When you start writing a story, do you do a lot of planning and outlining or do you just kind of wing it and write what you feel like delving into that day? Personally, I'm more of the wing it but go back and change things later on kind of method.
Yeah I hope to have it finished by the end of the day. I actually wanted to finish it yesterday but I had to finish an outline for a class so that didn't happen.
Mm, I think it's a little of both. I usually have a premise for the story and I try to plot out its course, so I usually have a direction that I want to go in with an end goal, but the rest is really uncharted territory. Often times what I find happens is that it is no longer me writing the story, but rather the characters forging it. In my most recent story with Madder Hatter, I had it planned out one way and kept trying to force it that way, but realized I just did not like where it was going, so I let go of the reigns and just let the characters tell it the way they wanted it to be told, and then ended up loving the story. That's kind of what is going on here as well, Gardia (our main character) was originally going to just slay the half demon and be done with it after almost sparing him but now we've taken a whole different turn of events. Obviously Gardia didn't think that's how the story should go and just sort of took over when I wasn't looking.
Though one thing to note is that often times I will listen to music either while writing or working on homework, and the music crafts certain scenes in my head that otherwise might not exist in the story, so that is a major influence as well.
Yep, I use a ton of music while writing, and I usually have the same kind of thing going on where I start imagining what a scene would look like and I roll with it. Usually they're songs without lyrics, mostly scores from movies or soundtracks to a video game. A song with lyrics... I dunno, something about them can sometimes get a little distracting.
When it comes to lyrics it depends for me. For example, during the story I just wrote I mainly listened to the OST from blue exorcist and attack on Titan because that fit the best, but last night when I was working on the finishing touches for characters for Guild Wars, I just ran through my nigihtcore playlist and that worked just as well.
Speaking of Guild Wars, the event is almost ready. I just need to finish writing the intro post, record a few things, and do a little photoshop editing and it'll be ready to go.
For me, it kind of depends on where the characters are and what they're doing. For example, if the characters are like in some desert doing reckless stuff, I might use the soundtrack from Borderlands. If there's a huge, epic battle with robots, well, the soundtracks from Transformers fit that pretty well.
As for me, Xanthe and I are busy with PMD: Stalkers Round 2. I don't think we'll have all too much time for anything else considering how popular this event became. XD
Yeah that makes sense. For Guild Wars, when I was working on the intro post last night, i just started rolling through a variety of SSBB soundtracks, and you can sort of tell when I started to do that because the post get way more detailed as it goes on.
I hope you guys will take the time to at least stop by when Guild Wars starts. The first chapter probably won't be up for a little while just because I do have college, but I at least want to get this up so that people can get hype for it, ya know? And since you two are my biggest fans on this site I would hope to have you at least checking it out. I'm also recording myself reading the intro post (in a very southern accent because I felt like it) so you'll be able to listen to it rather than just read it.
