Meltan Found in One Piece

Meltan
Apparently it seems as if Pokemon can be found in One Piece.

At least, Meltan can be found in One Piece as of the latest chapter. Though, it comes in the form of an Easter Egg!

In the latest chapter of One Piece (Chapter 980: Fighting Music), some pretty wild things has happen as Luffy and Zoro infiltrate Kaido’s ranks. Though, in classic Straw Hat fashion things go array quite quickly as the pair end up crashing the party.

In the process it has started a domino effect that has made pirate and Straw Hat ally, Eustass Kid, to start attacking. That is when you can spot a couple of Meltan who want to get in on the action. Or snag a snack from the a piece of metal that makes up Kid’s Punk Gibson attack.

You can play “Spot the Meltan” using the tweet below by newworldartur on Twitter. You can also click here to also take a look. There are two Meltan hidden in the image. Best of luck finding them!

So why is Meltan in a chapter of One Piece?

It turns out that Eiichiro Oda (One Piece’s creator) is a huge fan of Pokemon GO. He has mention the game a few times in his weekly author comments. Though, Oda isn’t the only Pokemon GO fan in the Shonen Jump offices. Apparently he plays the game with with My Hero Academia’s creator, Kohei Horikoshi. According to the Author Comments from February, it seems as if the pair of mangaka have gotten together during a holiday party to trade each other their Shiny Rayquaza. Unfortunately, the trade didn’t end up being a Lucky Trade.

Oda is known for putting a lot of work into each new chapter of One Piece. Though, it is nice to see him put the pencil down to play some Pokemon GO to relax. Maybe we can see another Pokemon Easter Egg in the future or collaboration.
