Things have gotten even more wet and wild for July’s Community Day!
This coming Sunday is Pokemon GO’s Community Day! We will be seeing plenty of Squirtle for trainers to capture. There will also be a special bonus where all eggs will need 1/4th hatch distance. Just make sure that you start incubating your eggs during the three hour Community Day window.
But that is not all!
All Wartortle that evolve into Blastoise during the event will learn Hydro Cannon. This is a powerful Water type attack that only Blastoise and the other Water Starter Pokemon can learn. It will surely drench your opponent with pure power!
But wait! There is more!
If you complete certain Research Tasks then you could have the chance to capture a special Squirtle wearing cool shades!
There is no confirmation on why Niantic is doing this but it could have something to do with a fan campaign. This fan campaign was was led by Pokemon GO Radio. They have spent the last few weeks urging their fanbase to use the hashtag #gosquirtlesquad on social media. Eventually it had caught on by other Pokemon GO trainers and influence PoGO podcasters. All of this to urge Niantic to put in a Squirtle wearing cool shades like the ones that the famous Squirtle Squad does. It looks like they were successful!
