New Pokémon Masters Information and Mechanics

New information at Pokémon Masters has been revealed! Check it out!

Today, DeNA Co., Ltd.and The Pokémon Company revealed more gameplay content and features for Pokémon Masters in a new trailer for Pokémon Masters, a real-time strategy and battling game for compatible Android and iOS devices that is planned to release in Summer 2019.

Several new features were revealed in the press release and trailer that were released today.

Cooperative Play

On top of having real time 3 v 3 battles, cooperative play has been revealed as an additional feature. Join two players from around the world for three-player co-op against AI opponents. Work together to unleash the unity attack, a special coordinated attack from all three sync pairs. The multiplayer also allows for you to do special battles away from the story. Each player has got their team of 3 but can only send one Pokémon out at a time.

Unity Moves

Unity Moves are a special battle feature that occurs with the 3 on 3 mode. If all players have built up the gauge, they can unleash a special Unity Attack. This has all three of the Pokémon attack together with an even stronger attack than Sync Moves. They can only be used in Co-op battles though.

Badges

Compete in the Pokémon Masters League tournament, which features 3-on-3 battles that take place only on the artificial island of Pasio. In this tournament, Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, Champions, and all-stars from every region of the Pokémon world have formed sync pair teams. Players will battle these teams all across Pasio to obtain badges and become champion of the Pokémon Masters League. As of right now, it has been revealed that there are at least five badges to obtain. The only badge named thus far is the Tranquility Badge, given to the player by Erika in the original release trailer.

Sygna Suits

While not pictured in the trailer, Sygna Suits are a new mechanic that are special outfits trainers can wear in battle. When Trainers wear a Sygna Suit, their partner Pokémon changes to match. For example, when Brock dons his Sygna Suit, he teams up with Tyranitar instead of Onix.

Learning Moves

You can teach Pokémon new moves and unlock their level cap. For example you can teach Outrage to Haxorus with Iris or learn a Sync Move of Late Fee Bubble Beam with Empoleon. Pokémon and Trainers have got levels and various moves. Trainers and Pokémon can also seem to level up and each trainer has got a Star Rating.

New Characters

Previously revealed but not named in the initial release trailer, several new characters including the rival and professor have been named.

The Professor of Pasio is Professor Bellis who researches the relationship between Pokémon and Sync Stones, items required for Sync Moves.

Lear is the prince from an unknown country who built Pasio and organised the Pokémon Masters League. He is joined by his staff members, Sawyer & Rachel.

The rival of the game is called Paulo and has a Rockruff.

Sync Pair Stories

If you befriend a new Sync Pair, you will receive a special Sync Pair story that provides more insight into the trainer and their Pokémon. It’s also possible these stories will hold some gameplay elements as well, but nothing has been stated as of this moment.

We’ll keep you up to date as more information is released so stay tuned trainers!
