ORAS Demo: Plot Details

The ORAS demo has now been released in some countries. PXR staff received a copy of the demo today and details of the plot can now be found below. The demo contains a scene that is not in the full ORAS games, however, this post containts spoilers for the demo.

The demo version begins with the male trainer, named Orlando, flying on the back of a Latios with Steven. You land in Mossdeep City and head to the Space Center to talk to a scientist whose worried his work is being stolen. Upon reaching there, you and Steven encounter two Team Aqua grunts, and Steven enlists your help in battle, asking you to choose one of three Pokemon: Grovyle, Combusken or Marshtomp at level 35. After defeating one of the grunt’s Poochyena, Team Aqua runs off. The scientist exits from the Space Center and tells you that Team Aqua are after a Pokemon which can Mega Evolve.

You are now given a chance to look around Mossdeep City (but not into any buildings) and talk to some of the trainers around. When you’re ready, you head off to a cave with Steven. The entrance is being guarded by two Magma grunts. Steven asks you to go ahead and explore while he makes preparations. After defeating Team Magma, you head inside and meet the female player who is not named. She is speaking to two Team Aqua grunts who begin arguing when she insults their uniforms. She tells you that there are tough trainers ahead which she was unable to defeat and wishes you luck before leaving. After defeating the Aqua grunts, you come across Aqua Admin Matt and Magma Admin Tabitha having an argument. When they see you, they decide to team up to beat you.

Before they can do anything, Steven rushes in and gives you a Mega Ring and your Pokemon (which should now have evolved) its corresponding Mega Stone and teaches it a new move. You have a double battle against them by teaming up with Steven and his Shiny Mega Metagross. After defeating the admins, Steven says he thinks he might be able to trust you with his Metagross one day and instructs you to go ahead and find the Mega Evolving Pokemon the evil teams were looking for. You follow him to a patch of grass. He gives you some Pokeballs and then you encounter either Glalie or Steelix depending on your DS’s region. After catching it, you head back to Mossdeep with Steven and he mentions Primal Reversal. A screen appears saying that you can send your new Glalie/Steelix to ORAS once it’s released.

After completing the demo once, it can be replayed multiple times to complete different objectives such as finding different Pokemon or battling trainers. Collected items such as Pokeballs and Heart Scales are able to be transferred to ORAS.

– The touch screen contains a Pokemon news TV program which is constantly being updated.
