Podcasters Questionnaire: Poke Press Digest #PokePodMonth2023

Podcaters Questionnaire
Another one for the presses!

July is Pokemon Podcast Month. A month where we get to celebrate our favorite Pokemon podcasts.

Pokemon Podcasts have a vast array of hosts. All of them come from various backgrounds and think in different way. The one thing that they all have in common is that they host their podcast as if they are a friend. A friend where you can come to every episode in hopes to have a conversation with them. One where you can enjoy their company for various minutes as you do something from driving, enjoying a meal or just doing something in your everyday life.

Still, as friends you want to get to know them a bit better. So we have taken the chance to ask some of your favorite Pokemon podcasters various of questions. Some of these questions range from podcasting in general to why they simply love Pokemon. Overall, we want to give you a chance to get closer to the friends that you love to listen and talk to every episode.

Today we have the following answering our Pokemon Podcast questionnaire:
Steven from Poke Press Digest.

What drew you to the Pokemon franchise?

Poke Press DigestSteven: It seemed like an interesting and well-made game.

What inspired you to podcast?

Poke Press DigestSteven: I had been doing digital audio work since the turn of the century, and field interviews since the early 2000’s. After my internet radio station shut down, I decided I needed another avenue to get out my interviews and other content.

What is your thought process when it comes to picking music for your podcast?

Poke Press DigestSteven: We avoid using licensed music on the podcast, though we discuss it often. The tracks are related to whatever topic/person is being covered.

What keeps you going when it comes to podcasting and Pokemon?

Poke Press DigestSteven: Every person I interview and every discussion I hold teaches me something.

When you record your podcast, who do you wish to reach with it?

Poke Press DigestSteven: For our music discussions, we assume our audience has an interest in music, but isn’t necessarily formally trained in it. It’s a tricky balance to strike, but I think we do a fairly good job.

What is the hardest part when it comes to podcasting?

Poke Press DigestSteven: Editing. The more you’ve done it, the more picky you get, so even as you get better, it never really gets easier.

What has been the best Podcast moment you have had?

Poke Press DigestSteven: That’s really hard to say. We do a lot of pre-planning, so there tend to not be a lot of “surprise” moments, if that’s what you’re looking for. We did have a lot of fun recording our recent “Pokémon Conquest” music discussion (You can dig up the raw livestream, and the polished version should come to the podcast later this year).

Huge thank you to Steven for taking the time to answer these questions.

We hope you enjoy this moment with your friend if you are a listener of this podcast. If you are not then how about you take a chance and make a new friend by listening to Poke Press Digest.

Make sure to give them a review on Apple Podcasts or your favorite podcatcher! Don’t touch that Totodile! See you all next time!
