Podcasters Questionnaire: PokéMakers #PokePodMonth2023

Podcaters Questionnaire
Gotta make’em all!

July is Pokemon Podcast Month. A month where we get to celebrate our favorite Pokemon podcasts.

Pokemon Podcasts have a vast array of hosts. All of them come from various backgrounds and think in different way. The one thing that they all have in common is that they host their podcast as if they are a friend. A friend where you can come to every episode in hopes to have a conversation with them. One where you can enjoy their company for various minutes as you do something from driving, enjoying a meal or just doing something in your everyday life.

Still, as friends you want to get to know them a bit better. So we have taken the chance to ask some of your favorite Pokemon podcasters various of questions. Some of these questions range from podcasting in general to why they simply love Pokemon. Overall, we want to give you a chance to get closer to the friends that you love to listen and talk to every episode.

Today we have the following answering our Pokemon Podcast questionnaire:
JD & Alex from PokéMakers

What drew you to the Pokemon franchise?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: We grew up on it, enjoying it in many media; the games, the anime, the card game, etc. It’s been a huge part of our lives from the moment it began.

What inspired you to podcast?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: We’ve always been creative, and enjoy making things and trying out different formats. We were inspired by friends who were podcasting, and it allowed us to collaborate as well as putting our own spin on existing ideas.

What is your thought process when it comes to picking music for your podcast?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: For PokéMakers, all of our music is bespoke and commissioned from Mike Freitag. We wanted to recreate the feel of the Pokémon games, with our own twist on adventure! For our current season, we commissioned him for a remix with an Italian twist.

What keeps you going when it comes to podcasting and Pokemon?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: Getting to continue sharing our ideas with each other and our audience. Creating fakemon is something we could do alone together, but the show gives us focus, and a time frame in which to get tasks done.

Every new idea is exhilarating, and we can’t wait to share – especially when others build on our ideas, or are otherwise inspired by them further.

When you record your podcast, who do you wish to reach with it?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: First and foremost, our show is for us! Anyone we reach with it is a bonus. But any Pokémon fans who revel in new ideas; new regions, Pokémon, and game concepts. Or anyone who might enjoy that, but doesn’t know it yet!

What is the hardest part when it comes to podcasting?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: Editing can be a struggle, as it’s such a long, time-consuming process, and isn’t the part where we’re actively sharing our new ideas. It’s worth it for our finished product, however: we take pride in our consistent production.

What has been the best Podcast moment you have had?

PokéMakersJD & Alex: Receiving listener input, from emails from all sorts of people inspired to take our ideas further, to incredible fanart, where we get to see our ideas brought to life through the eyes of someone else.

Huge thank you to JD & Alex for taking the time to answer these questions.

We hope you enjoy this moment with your friend if you are a listener of this podcast. If you are not then how about you take a chance and make a new friend by listening to PokéMakers.

Make sure to give them a review on Apple Podcasts or your favorite podcatcher! Don’t touch that Totodile! See you all next time!
