Pokemon Legends Details and More!

Legends Arceus
Time for Legends to be told!

This past Wednesday we saw tons of new information regarding Pokemon Legends. From new Pokmeon to regional forms! Even new characters! Plenty of legends are coming to Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

About Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Jubilife Village
Pokemon Legends: Arceus takes place in the Hisui Region. This was the name that the Sinnoh region went by many years ago in the past. During this time, Pokemon and humans did not live together in harmony. Though, there are many Pokemon and ecosystems found within the Hisui region with Mt. Cornet at the center of it all.

You will be playing as a member of the Galaxy Expedition Team that works under the Galaxy Team. This team is made up of a few different divisions. There are the Medical Core, Security Core and the Survey Core. You will be joining the Survey Core which purpose is to research Pokemon.

The game will start with you visiting Jubilife Village which will serve as your base of operations where you receive assignments and requests. You will be asked to stop at base camps found within the Hisui region. At these base camps you can rest and recover your Pokemon’s health. You will also be able to buy and craft items at these base camps.

Your overall goal in Hisui will be to complete the Pokedex and increase your rank within Galaxy Team. Along the way you will meet several different characters and Pokemon.

Concerning Jubilife Village, you will be able to trade Pokemon with other players.

You will be playing as either Akari or Rei, the male and female player character. The player character that you do not choose will also join you on your adventure as a fellow team member.

Characters from Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Characters
There will be plenty of new characters from Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Some of them will be able to help you in your work to research the various Pokemon within the Hisui Region.

Professor Laventon
Laventon
Professor Laventon studies the ecology of Pokemon. He will be the professor that gives you your Starter Pokemon from Qyndaquil, Rowlet and Oshawott. Professor Laventon came from a different region but has brought along these Pokemon that he has collected from different regions.

Cyllene
Cyllene
Acting as the captain of the Survey Core is Cyllene. She is a stern and harsh but will support you during your research into the Pokemon of the Hisui Region.

It is worth noting that Cyllene looks quite similar to Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic from the Sinnoh of the present day. It is unknown if Cyllene is related to Cyrus in any form or way.

Commander Kamado
Kamado
Overseeing the Galaxy Team is Commander Kamado. He is the one who allows you to join the team and work under the Survey Core.

Kamado bares a strong resemblance to Professor Rowan from the Pokemon games that take place in the modern era. That is because Kamado is an ancestor of Professor Rowan.

There are hints that we may see other people in Legends Arceus who are ancestors to people who know in the present day world.

Working in the Survey Core

Camps
Your job in the Survey Core is to research, discover and capture Pokemon. Though, while doing this job you may have to battle Pokemon. You will need to be careful! Wild Pokemon can and will attack you! If you take too much damage then you will blackout. To help capture Pokemon, you can sneak in the tall grass to gain an advantage on wild Pokemon. Overall, you will be tasked to create the first Pokedex for the Hisui region.

You will be able to battle wild Pokemon. Though, you can implement two different styles in battle: Strong Style and Agile Style.

Strong Style will give more power to your Pokemon’s attacks but will also make it become slower.

If you have your Pokemon attack in Agile Style then their speed will be raised but their attacks will have less power.

There seems to be an Action Order in Legends Arceus to help you keep track of who and when they will attack. Perhaps when you are in Agile Style then you can attack multiple times or jump ahead in the Action Order List. Meanwhile, in Strong Style you will drop down in the Action Order.

Hisui Regional Evolutions

There are some Pokemon in the Sinnoh of the past that have evolved from Pokemon that we know about today. We were shown the evolutions of Stantler and Basculin.

Wyrdeer
Wyrdeer
Category: Big Horn Pokémon
Height: 5′11″
Weight: 209.7 lbs.
Type: Normal/Psychic

In the Hisui region, Stantler can evolve into Wyrdeer. Using the black orbs at the bases of its antlers, this Pokémon generates and unleashes psychic energy powerful enough to distort space.

In the Pokemon Present, we saw the player character ride a Wyrdeer in the wild.

Basculegion
Basculegion
Category: Big Fish Pokémon
Height: 9ʹ10″
Weight: 242.5 lbs.
Type: Water/Ghost

Basculin in the Hisui region evolve into Basculegion when they are possessed by the souls of other Basculin from their school that could not withstand the harsh journey upstream. Their propulsive power is bolstered by the souls possessing them, letting them swim without tiring.

During the Pokemon Present, the player character was seen Surfing on a Basculegion.

There is no reason given on why we do not see these Pokemon in modern day Sinnoh or other games. If I was to take a guess then I would think that these Pokemon either migrated out of Sinnoh and into safer waters in terms of Pokemon like Basculin. Perhaps they even die out and eventually just left to thrive in other regions such as Unova.

In the case of Stantler, I am going to guess that as Hisui became more modern and change into Sinnoh that Stantler didn’t need to evolve into Wyrdeer. That is because the environment became less harsh became less cold and thus didn’t need so much fur or strength to live in Sinnoh.

Hisui Regional Varients

We also have several new regional Pokemon of old favorites that have made Hisui their home.

Hisuian Braviary
Hisuian Braviary
Category: Battle Cry Pokémon
Height: 5′7″
Weight: 95.7 lbs.
Type: Psychic/Flying

When Rufflet in the Hisui region evolve, they become Hisuian Braviary. Hisuian Braviary can imbue its eerie screeches with psychic power to generate powerful shock waves. It can also use its psychic power to sharpen its sixth sense, entering a trance that boosts its physical abilities.

The player character was seen in the Pokemon Presents to Fly on Hisuian Braviary using a hand glider of sorts.

Hisuian Growlithe
Gisuian Growlithe
Category: Scout Pokémon
Height: 2′7″
Weight: 50 lbs.
Type: Fire/Rock

This is Growlithe as it appears in the Hisui region. Hisuian Growlithe has longer, more voluminous fur than the previously discovered form of Growlithe. Highly vigilant, they tend to be seen watching over their territory in pairs.

No reason was given to why we do not see Hisuian forms of Growlithe and Braviary. It is guessed that they simply evolved out or breed to be the Pokemon that we know today.
