It looks like fans of the TCG are going to be in for a huge 20th anniversary treat! Get your wallets ready because you are going to want this collection if you love the TCG or art!
Pokemon is going to release a “Pokemon Super Premium Collection” that will features several items. This piece of merchandise includes: Mew-EX and Mewtwo-EX promos, one figure of both Pokemon together, 10 Generations booster packs, three collector’s boxes featuring Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise with 12 dividers to hold everything, a TCG art book, and a PTCGO code card. All of this comes in a nice box for the cost of $79.99.
This item comes with Mew Ex and Mewtwo EX. The image is too blurry to tell if Mew EX is a reprint of the same one from Dragons Exalted (which was later reprinted in Legendary Treasures) or a brand new card. It does look as if this Mew EX could be the same but it is too soon to say. Mewtwo EX looks to be a reprint of the Mewtwo EX from BREAKthrough but it is unsure if it could be. These cards will be labeled as promos which means that they will receive a Black Star Promo number. If Mew EX is a reprint of Dragons Exalted Mew EX then that means that Mew EX will be back in the format.
The TCG art book will most likely be a translated version of the “Pokemon TCG Illustration Collection” which was release in Japan back in December 2014. The Japanese book has over 190 pages of art used in the TCG ranging from Pokemon, Trainers and promotional images used in Japan and the United States.
From personally owning a copy of the Japanese “Pokemon TCG Illustration Collection” book, it is amazing to look through and see how the art has changed throughout the years. You get to view art that you normally see on packaging in their full glory. You would be amaze how some cards only features a small snippet of what is a beautiful picture. Some of the art that is used in the TCG is shrunk down but in this book it contains the art that has been confined in the small boarders blown up. You will be able to see things in the background that you have never noticed from the small card. If this is a direct translation of the book then we will be able read what goes on behind the scenes in the Pokemon TCG and how they create the cards. I can’t wait to own this book and would recommend to everybody who loves the TCG to purchase this.
