    Programming

I've always been interested in web site design and coding. Been getting a bit more into it lately by messing around on Codecademy. Since I already know HTML/CSS pretty well, I've been learning Javascript, which is really fun so far. I would like to be able to make simple but nice websites and am looking forward to making myself a portfolio site soon!

Are any of you guys interested in programming? What languages? Are you self-taught? Any recommendations for resources for learning to code? Examples of things you've made?

I know HTML and used to know Javascript. If I tried, I could probably relearn Javascript. I learned them back in school. I also know how to work Excel pretty decent, though not sure if it counts.

I used to be pretty handy with command prompt, and spent most of my work experience learning how to run batch files. Probably a good thing I lost interest because some of the stuff I was playing around with was the type of thing that could get me into a bit of trouble...

If you're trying to learn JavaScript, W3Schools is a good site to use. It's somewhat tricky to navigate, but it works pretty well as a reference.

So far I've learned several languages in college, some of which I've grown to dislike (PHP and Bash) and some I'm pretty comfortable with (Java and JavaScript). I'm also attempting to teach myself Lua for game programming. My favorite so far is JavaScript. Sure, it has some annoyances (like the lack of a good wait function), but it's simple and has fairly clean syntax. PHP, on the other hand, is my least favorite because of its horribly bad design and numerous inconsistencies.

I know basic HTML and a little more than basic BB coding. I'll be taking a Java script class at my school this upcoming year. I tried codecademy for a while but I'd type what it was telling me to do and say I wasn't doing it right so I said "screw it." I'd like some professional training though, just so my in progress word press site will look cool.

Back in college, I did use some basic Java and VB.net. I've pretty much forgotten all of it by now though, but I don't want to admit to that on my resume. :P

I kind of wish I had the time to learn JavaScript, since there's a load of cool things you can do with it and it really helps when it comes to making websites and stuff like that.

I know basic HTML and I've used WordPress. I know enough to run a basic website and that's about it. xD

I learnt Visual Basic and a bit of Python in my last two years at High School. I've forgotten a lot of it, but it wouldn't be difficult to relearn! I also dabbled very briefly in SQL as part of a high school software task as well as HTML; we had to make a fake web store connected to a database. I can't do CSS from scratch but I can read it.

I'm currently learning Computer Science in University and did a lot of C programming last semester, which I think will be continuing this semester along with learning Javascript.

I know Java (though it's been a while), Perl (which was slightly more recently), and Matlab (which I am literally using for a paid job).

Leaning code to me is like learning how to fly. It just won't happen. xD

The only thing I've tried to learn was C# for Unity, but yeah...didn't work out so well. xD We use it in class for game design, but I'm not even a programmer so it's not totally necessary that I know it. It would help, though, for sure. I just can't wrap my head around it. x:

Obviously I know a teensy bit of BB code thanks to forums and the HTML equivalents, but that's barely anything to make a fuss about. xD

I've been programming since 7th grade. I know Java and web design mainly, but I've toyed with C, C++, and Python.
