Alice had remained mostly quiet the whole time. She fumed internally about their luck. They had been derailed at every opportunity. Everyone presumed them guilty immediately even though they had only been training for six days. Six days! They had been asked to come to Kanto. They had been sent by Professor Oak to accompany the champion Max. How was any of this their fault? Why were they always being blamed? If Max really was a bad guy, then they had practically been kidnapped from the start! But no one even tried to hear their side, and now they would lose their one chance at clearing their names and being normal trainers. Even if they somehow got away, which was increasingly unlikely, they would never be able to enter a city in Kanto again. Alice's mood was turning sour, fast. Whatever patience she once had was drained away over the last few days.

If only they had Upgrade, she thought. If only they had thought to record the events of Mt Moon and Cerulean on their Poketechs, they would have some sort of evidence. People should be thanking them and instead they were being treated like criminals. Alice wondered what would happen if she called her parents. Even escaping back to Kalos was better than this, even if she never had a chance at being a scientist after having her name dragged through the mud. Alice raged in her head, chewing her fingernails angrily as she walked. Her mind raced over escape plans and ideas but nothing stuck.

All the while she watched the Arcanine. The detective didn't seem like a bad guy. His Pokemon definitely trusted him. But if they couldn't get the trust of the trainer, then maybe they could get the trust of the Pokemon...

Officer Mills took down Brandon's team with ease and then explained the situation to the team. Someone in Vermillion was trying to stop them from .... he wasn't sure what exactly? But if it was someone from high society setting the game, they were playing a game that Rocky had played for years. He looked forward to finding out who was running this gambit so that he could do a little research into their past.

"Officer Mills do you mind if I let my Vulpix out to get some excercise? She likes to run, and I can personally guarantee you that I am not going to try to attack you giant Water type with my little fire type."

"Also if I could ask, what exactly do the police files say that we did at Mount Moon? I admit I did some battling in there against some pretty nasty individuals who attacked a hiker and stole his Pokemon. I also stepped in to help stop them abusing a rare blue crystal Onix. I am not sure exactly what we are being charged with."

" As or right now, you are wanted in questioning for the events that took place that ended up costing two people their lives. There is also the eye witness that pointed out your group specifically. You ask me kid...this report looks a little shaky. That of course woudlnt be enough to send people looking for you...but then came the video of the attack on a white rocket transport. The video is scattered clips but it shows you with Kanto's most Notorious gang. Thats really where you went wrong." Mills said

"I have learned not to judge a book by its cover. You kids could have done some awful things..but since I picked up your trail I havent seen one thing that suggests you guys are guilty. If Im picking that up so will others."

Mills yawned stretching out his arms. Since Brandon had not shown signs of aggression he was uncuffed. The team wasnt to far away from the rangers station. Though it really couldnt bee seen at this point.

Officer Mills seemed to be decent enough man, he even let Brandon out of his handcuffs. As the talked along the trail it seemed that he was inclined to believe that the case made up against the trainers was just that ... made up!

"You guys have walked a lot today. What do you say to setting up camp here and I can have Arcanine here heat us up some soup?" the officer asked.

Rocky around at the surrounding area. It seemed a nice enough place to camp out for the night. He let out Vulpix to let it run around for a bit, and the energetic little pokemon gave a bark of joy and started racing around the camp.

When Vulpix saw Arcanine, however, the little fire type stopped in its tracks and stared at the huge fiery pokemon, Mesmerised by its flames. "Vulpix?" it asked of the large fire type.

"Seems as good a place as any", said Rocky. "Although last night we found a Ranger station to stay in which gave much better protection from the elements."

He set up his tent and sleeping bag and than brought out his dehydrated gourmet delights for his meal.

Pulling out his Poketech he tried to find an app that would allow him to listen to or read the local news. He wanted to see exactly what the media was reporting. If there was a bias to the reporting, perhaps there would be a pattern as to which channels were most biased against them, which might give him a clue as to their enemy.

As terrified as Rose was, in a way, she almost was beginning to like the detective. She felt torn between the detective's apparent niceness and the fact that he was arresting them. They were forced to walk for a while, and Rose remained mostly silent. So many thoughts passed through her head. Did her parents know about this? What would they think when they found out? Would she be forced to go back home with them? Or worse, what if they were found guilty? She knew this couldn't be the end of their journey. They had to find a way out so they could clear their names and save Max.

Several hours passed before the detective suggested that they stop and make camp. Rose was relieved. After all the walking they had done that day and the day before, her feet were aching. "That sounds amazing." She said.

Rose unrolled her sleeping bag and laid it out on the ground. She sat down on it, but she didn't feel like going to sleep yet, even if she was tired. "Amirah?" Rose said, lifting up her hand. The small psychic type landed on her hand, making a faint chime as she did so. "How are you doing?" She asked, and the chingling responded with a chime. That familiar chime always made Rose feel a little bit better.

Mills pulled out a bowl and used a small fire to heat it up. He used his jacket to sit down on. With the camp fire going he leaned against a few feet away. Mills was like Max in some ways. He sat back at first quietly just watching the kids. He had not shown many signs of agression. Unlike Max however after he felt the group wasnt going to flee he jumped in and started passing out bowls. He looked to Brandon.
"It was a little brave of you to try and stand up for what you believe. " He said looking at Brandon.
" Ultimately is was more foolish then brave. You have to be more cautious. Standing up for what you believe in doesnt mean jumping into every fight. Sometimes its best to observe and see the whole picture first. I did not enjoy sending out Slowbro but the point needed be clear." Mills continued to eat his soup.

Looking around Mills noticed Rose talking with her pokemon and Rocky checking for news updates.
" A new witness came forward .." Mills said causally.
" The kid claimed to be part of the attack on Mt Moon. Said he was part of your group until you guys lost control." He continued

Changing the subject he looked at the others.
"We are going to have a long day tomorrow, before that has to happen why dont we just take this moment right here and now to talk as if we were trainers who met on different paths. What part of your journey has been your favorite? " He said trying to help get the group attention off there current predicament.

Alice kept to herself as they walked. She was exhausted physically and mentally. They had walked for almost two whole days and it was finally catching up with her. She was relieved when they stopped to eat. Rocky was absorbed in his Poketech, while Rose was having a moment with her Pokemon.

Alice found a grassy spot and lay flat on her back so she could see the stars. She looked for familiar constellations but everything looked different than the sky in Kalos. She had never felt like she truly belonged in Kalos. Kanto was her home, she knew. But now that she was here, everything was so different that it was hardly recognisable. Despite the people around her, Alice felt very alone.

When the cop brought her a bowl of soup, Alice thanked him sullenly and ate it slowly. She could see that he was a good man, only doing his job. His Pokemon clearly cared about him and were well looked after. But she was still angry at his interference. When she was done, she returned the bowl and lay on the ground again. It was a warm summer night, especially compared to Kalos.

"We are going to have a long day tomorrow, before that has to happen why dont we just take this moment right here and now to talk as if we were trainers who met on different paths. What part of your journey has been your favorite? " The officer said.

Alice thought back on her journey, trying to remember a part before they had been on the run. Before they had lived in fear of being recognised or captured. She thought of the moments she shared with Max, when they had a moment alone. Her face reddened as she remembered how glad she had been, to be noticed by the champion. But if she shared those memories she knew those moments wouldn't belong to just her anymore. Instead she thought about when she first held Aster, his little heart beating against her own chest. How she had been afraid that he would be hurt in battle. How she knew immediately she would do anything to protect him.

"The first time I held my Bulbasaur," Alice said quietly. "I had never been happier. I knew we would be okay as long as we were together. Heh, look how well that worked out." A few tears chased each other down her cheeks as she rolled away from the fire and curled up to go to sleep. She thought about Meg and wondered if she was okay. There had been no reply all day. Maybe she was just out of range?

After Brandon's lost battle with the detective, even though Brandon had his hands up in surrender already, the detective, who identified himself as detective Mills, said that he told him not to do that, then he pulled out a pair of handcuffs and reached up for one of Brandon's raised arm, he slipped thencuff on the one arm and pulled it behind his back, then reached for Brandon's other arm and pulled that one back and cuffed that one too. Brandon was handcuffed with his hands behind his back, now the detective brought him to the rear of the group and had him stand next to his Arcanine and topd him not to make any sudden movements. Brandon rolled his eyes and thought handcuffing him was un nessecary, all his pokemon were currently out of commision, there was no way he couldn't resist further even if he wanted to. The only he could really do was run, but he is not stupid, there was no way that would happen, the detective's Arcanine would catch him before he got a foot away. Brandon just stood silently as the detective told the team what they were going to do, then the team was made to walk for awhile. After what felt like hours of walking, the detective had them stop, he un handcuffed Brandon, which was a relief, he rubbed his wrists to get the circulation in them moving again. As he did so the detective said they would set up camp and that his Arcanine would make some soup for them all. Soon a camp was made and the group began to try and relax in the makeshift camp, supervised by the detective and his powerful pokemon. He handed out soup to the group and tried to make small chat, as Brandon ate his soup, the detective tried make small talk with him and said he understands fighting for what you believe in but that sometimes you need to take in the beginner picture. Brandon knew and understood this, one should always take in the bigger picture when possible, but if one is cornered and doesn't have the time to just take in the bigger picture, then one just needs tp think fast, think on their feet and act.

The detective then went on to try and make small talk with the group in general and try to their mind off everything. Brandon just listened to it all and remained silent the whole time, he was not going to risk giving any form of law of enforcement any kind of information that they could re word and use in a cade against them. While the detective seemed like a nice guy and was treating them well, Brandon knew that was just what police and detectives were trained to do, to be friend suspects in order to gain their trust and get information to try them with. Brandon knew this because his Mom was good friends with a retired Sinnoh Police Sergeant, who always told her stories (some that sounded like they should secret) from when we was a cop, when Brandon was with her, he listened to his stories and absored every word of it. A couple of these stories flashed into his mind, the stories were a remidner as to how you could never trust a cop when you were detained, especially when they were being friendly. The best course of action, was to say nothing at all.

Officer Mills pulled the trainers out of the personal reveries with a simple question. What was his favourite part of this journey?

Alice told about meeting her bulbasaur and the bond they shared. Brandon sat silently, not interatcing with the officer more than necessary.

"I think my favourite part was when I met my Rattata. I know that Rattatas are rather common, but Speedy is something special. It was quite surprising to find that something I ecpected to be so ... common, could be quite special. He is faster than any other Pokemon I have ever seen and super curious about everything. He has been part of all three of my gym challenge teams so far. I hope he is OK now."

He thought for a few moments about his missing Pokemon.

"Officer Mills, have you heard anything about Pokemon going missing in transit between Cerulean and Vermillion? After battling whatever that thing was in Cerulean, and helping evacuate the city my Pokemon fell ill and had to be left at the Pokemon Center. Yesterday I got news that they were healthy again and being delivered to Vermillion, but then they went missing. I am very worried about them."

Previously on days of our lives...

3:30 am

"Get up!" a man voice said.

Meghan opened her eyes to light in her eyes. Three men stood over her with weapons.

"Get her up!" the leader said as the other two pulled her to her feet.

Meghan quickly realizing what was going on put up her hands.
"..I surrender!" She said angerly trying to get the men to back off.

The men were dressed in all black with only the one piercing white R symbol on their chest. She wasnt given time to do much. The leader walked right behind her shoving. The others collected her stuff.

"I cant say I like the ever so "gentle" push I am getting from these guys as I am being led to go knows where. I have finally woken up completely and if not for my curiosity I would probable keel over and die from the all the fear that is clogging my heart. I am in real trouble and Im facing what could be the end of me and Im alone in the dark on some creepy abandoned factory grounds.

I suppose this is the point in the story where Rokcy would step in and try to break the tension by making an off center joke. "Featured today on the top things you should totally avoid on your own. Number covering yourself margikarp oil and swimming near sharpedo and number two foolishly following a mass mudrer who may be in league with a crime syndicate that runs the country." I miss the team." Meg said to herself being pushed across a waste land. In the distance she could now see the dim lights of massive factory.

"How has no one seen this before? Seriously, how does something like this go unchecked. Oh wait its like 4 something in the morning and with the gate running around the property I have to guess that no trespassing or maybe even warning signs that read "Toxic" have caused any local police curiosity. I doubt even the local critters want to come anywhere near this less then safe looking building." She said under her breath.

"What did you say." One of the grunts said shoving her forward.

" There has been a misunderstanding mr." Meghan said in a scared tone.
"I am just a bird trainer who stupidly got curious. I dont care whatever you guys are doing at this creepy factory." She continued.

As they got closer to the doors. Megs instincts kicked and as she tried to get clear she was knocked out.

6 something am or so I think.

Meghan began to stir quickly finding out that she was on the floor of a mostly dark room. The only source of light coming from a crack under the door. she made her way around the room finding that there was no way out. As the fear started to kick in she got down the floor to see what if anything she could see outside of this room. The light coming in was very dim.

"Someone let me out of here!" She called out not starting to panic. She got up and started banging on the door. There was no response which caused her to bang even harder on the door.

She then turned to see if her bag was somewhere in here but sadly it was gone. Just the broken Poketech. She used the light to try and open it up. When she didnt have any luck with that she began to scream out again until finally she saw a pair of feet moving past.

"Where are my pokemon at!!! Let me out of here." She continued to bang on the door until she wore herself out. Eventually she was to tired and soar to hit the door anymore. She leaned against the wall her hands were now covered in cuts and swollen. She slide down he wall onto her butt. She couldnt let this break her. She had been in this room for a couple of hours and she was going to get out. She just couldnt do it like this. Finally the day light broke and started to fill the building with light. The light made its way into this room through the cracks in the wall.

11 am

When she finally heard the faint sound of talking she laid down and put her ear to the crack.

"Executive Ariana is coming here..I just got the call." One of the grunts said

"Great just great she is going to want to know if we hacked it. She wants that info from it." The other sighed.

"what do we tell her about the girl ?" The second one said

" I dont know...but having a new test subject should at least get her to calm down when she realizes someone found this place."

"we should prep the equipment then.."

The two walked away leaving Meg all alone.

"Great job Meg." she said to herself.

" Be the brave one and do this on your own. Your impressive two or three pokemon battles really gave you an edge of over logic." she continued


Meghan waited a little longer and decided it was time she figured out how to get out of here. She pulled the bobby pin out of her hair and carefully took off her arm bandage and shoes laces. She first tried to pick the lock but that didnt work. She then tried to use some of the blocks of cement on the floor to break the hinges and that also didnt work.
"Dont even think about starting a fire." She said herself wondering if a fire could be started and if it would work. She sat back down and kicked the wall. For some reason this caused small pebbles to fall from the ceiling. She looked and noticed ceiling covered in pipes had taken serious water damage. A small smile came over her face as she thought maybe she could bring the ceiling down. She looked up trying to estimate how high the wall was.

3PM

Finally with some time she had found a way to use the gaps broken in the wall to climb up. These gaps provided just enough space for her to get close enough to use the makeshift rope made from her wrist bandages to swing on two on of close pipes. Using her shoe laces tied to the end of her rope it gave her something to grab onto once the rope was over. With the rope now secure she would be able to try and use her weight to hopefully bring down part of the wall. It did not work out the first couple of times. For each time she fell down or slipped she got back and dusted herself off heading right back up. When she finally was able to connect the pipes let out a loud ringing noise that echoed through the walls. Chunks of the ceiling came falling down but it wasnt enough. A few more attempts and finally she got what she thought wanted. On her last attempt the pike broke tearing up the ceiling as it snapped off its hinge. Meghan dropped back 8 feet and nearly moved out the way of getting hit with the pipe. However she was not so lucky as the ceiling gave. She quickly covered her head as it came down all around her.

Meghans arm pushed up through the rubble. She coughed as she finally broke free. As she climbed out now more soar that shed been in awhile she heard footsteps. She carefully picked up a chunk of wood and charged painfully at the door. As it came open she swung hard and fast knocking the first grunt to the ground. She slipped on the ground and hit the other one in the gut as he started to grab her. She didnt know where she was but she had to get out. She pushed back to her feet as the two grunts lay on the ground in pain.

She ran as fast as she could her legs and arms burned from the cuts and bruises of being buried under rubble. She called out for Gligar

"GALLOW!" she yelled hoping the pokemon would hear her and respond. She paused to see where they were and the second was getting back up and making his over over to her. When the faint sound of what she thought was Gligar came from the floor above she took the stair case. She moved up it as fast as she could and to her relief it was her pokemon further up the path in a steel cage. Her legs really started to hurt as she got closer.

"Gligar!" the small scared pokemon called out seeing his trainer.

Meghan reached the steel cage built into the wall and started to pull on the bars but had not luck. She searched desperately for the key but couldn't find it. Finally the grunts caught up her. One smiled and held the key out. Meghan growled

"You made a real mistake messing with me and my pokemon." She hissed

Clinching her fist she was determined to go out fighting. She quickly pulled back as one of them smoke up.

Mills listened to the stories happy to have a break from having to hunt down criminals. When Rocky mentioned the missing pokemon he spoke up.
" The missing pokemon is something we have a lot of guys working on. Though Im not sure I trust everyone in Vermilion. Surge was doing this for awhile and it only became public recently. Why?" He asked looking at the group.

"I can tell you that if they dont find Surge I will. We have good people working on this to make sure any stolen pokemon are returned. I wont stop until the last pokemon is returned." Mills seemed annoyed

"But this cant only be on Surge...I fear that something much bigger is going on in Vermilion City." He paused.

"You guys should get some rest. You have a long day ahead of you tomorrow."

As he turned around to walk back to his spot he remarked.
