For good reason, especially if one hopes to competitively battle on Wi-Fi and/or locally. Of course, one could just travel back three generation previous and spam Master Balls to catch Ditto on Emerald.

I understand that, but you can also catch them in game normally in that Pokemon Village area or whatever,. They didn't seem that hard to find... You could probably even chain them if you wanted to find more in a row. I know it would be a bit faster to use a Safari with them, but after all the effort of finding someone with that particular Safari, I thought it would just easier to catch them the regular way.

Catching Dittos through Pokemon Village (especially chaining them) is a more efficient way than just searching someone for a Safari. Even then, for me, I don't see the huge point in having to look for someone with a Ditto safari because the chances of finding Ditto there are only kind of slightly higher, because of the limited amount of Pokes you can find in that area. It's better to just carry a (insert nature here) Synchro and chain from there.

The biggest reason for people wanting a ditto safari is that every pokemon caught in someone's safari is guaranteed to have at least two max IV's making it a better breeding partner. Synching for a Timid max Sp Atk/Speed as an example becomes an actual possibility through someones FS
