Spoiler:
From my point of view, the inequality caused by a draft is institutionalized inequality versus the inequality from the current system which is inequality as a result of someone being a dick. The latter is much easier to regulate than the former. So, certainly, it does create a system of "de jure equality," in that things are supposed to be equal because we say they should be, but creating a form of "true equality" via a draft system seems equally synthetic to me and ultimately has more negative externalities than the current laissez faire system.
I'm trying my best to manufacture the highest possible amount of net happiness, so the right choice seems obvious to me.

Since Max wants to be a stick in the mud:
"I feel that Graphic Art should be its own category/contest. Why? Because to simply categorize it with drawing in one big lump is just wrong. Doing banners, animations, wallpapers, and the like just isn't the same as putting pen/pencil to paper, or stylus to tablet. These are two very different art styles that need to be separated because a person who is good at banners may not have a tablet to digitally draw something. Someone who likes to mess with random brushes on Photoshop may not be skilled enough to paint on a canvas. There is no level of fairness to those who can do one thing, and not another. If the theme one day was: 'Draw a Digital image of a monkey in a tree,' people without a tablet would try to draw with their mouse, and it'd fail miserably. This is why I feel it's necessary to separate the two, so that Traditional and Digital artists could do their things, and the Graphic designers could do theirs."
I don't think that's unreasonable, they are two very different methods of creating art. Some people may be skilled at drawing but don't know a thing about digital art and vice versa. They should be separate or one of them just shouldn't exist and the remaining section should be purely which ever is left as opposed to a combination.
Also, I just happened to notice this; Is there a reason that we don't have a section for Wifi and/or Simulator(Showdown, etc.)? battling?
I believe it was thought there wouldn't be enough activity based on PXR's current activity in those sections. But if you (and other people) are interested then you should definitely get them to post here and show the war leaders that it would be a viable section to have. :)
I'd be up for a Wi-Fi/Showdown section.

Not a stick in the mud as much one of three parts. XaiakuX seems to believe my job is just to instantly listen to any suggestion and just push it through. As a WAR leader I was charged with helping set this whole thing up and as part of a team of people we discuss everything as a group first. Behind the scenes we have a lot going on, as the leader of GCEA i have a lot going on.
The system is not perfect but we are doing the best we can right now. Thanks for the feedback !
Also if you are looking for dates, times and current contests please check out the official WAR 1 Intro Thread and Link Hub Here
Sarah can you add this to the front page of this post.

Spoiler:
I fail to see what part of his suggestion was implying that you have to push through any suggestion as your job... he's just making a suggestion. Suggestions can be discussed in here and if they were brought up earlier then it wasn't mentioned earlier because...? I'm confused by this.
Anyway, if people would like to suggest a section that isn't posted, as I wrote in the threads, the sections are subject to change for any unforeseeable reason. This could be because there is a sudden spike of interest in something that isn't on the list, so if you'd like to see something, suggest it and bring out everyone who would like to see it to back that suggestion up. The more involvement the better!
