PXR WAR Season 1: Petition Thread

We have been getting a ton of feedback on contest that should be added. So we are going to open a petition/ suggestion thread. Below are some things to know as we move forward.

Conditions and Rules
1. If you are going to suggestion a contest you must already be part of a team.
2. For a contest to be considered by the WAR 1 Council there must be at least 12-16 people who petition for that contest. This number will show that enough people interested to make it worth it.
3. On the off chance that lots of people petition for a contest they do not intend on joining the length of these contests will be determined actual contestants who take place. There will be trial period. Meaning that contests created here may only run for half the tournament because of their activity.
4. If a group petitions to get a contest started and all the members are part of the same team that contest will automatically be dropped down to one or two weeks. WAR is about competing against others not stacking a contest.

Contest Title: Pokemon Showdown
Brief Description of Contest: People battle on the popular battling simulator Pokemon Showdown, with different tiers/battle types each week.
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: I think lots of people would participate due to its pretty great popularity and its ease of access to anyone wishing to participate.

Also, I would like to question the reasoning behind the "12-16 petitioners" section. Currently, there are only 23 people who are currently on a WAR team (25 if you count teams that haven't met the 5 person minimum so far). That would mean more than half of the current participants would have to petition. I have trouble believing that any (or at least most) of the currently approved WAR Contests will have 12-16 participants at all. I would like to petition to lower the required number of petitioners to approve a new Contest. Try saying that 5 times fast now

Brief Description of Contest: Pretty self explanatory. A competition involving battling on showdown. There could be, maybe like, a battle a week per player that signs up maybe?
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: I think that enough people would participate to justify it's existence. I suppose this thread will show if there is or not though.

Even if I know I won't do particularly good, I would participate if this was put in as a contest.

Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: The Shoddy/PO/PS section has been a WAR staple for years, and it's the most effective competitive battling section we could have for a variety of reasons versus the more gimmicked and member-exclusive URPG/ASB sections. Not sure why it isn't there.

Contest Title: Wi-Fi Battling/Showdown
Brief Description of Contest: Battling competitively online in Pokemon X or Pokemon Y. Showdown explained previously.
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: Wi-Fi Battling and Showdown Battling have been a part of WAR prior to PXR and numerous people took place in them. A lot of people on PXR want Wi-Fi and Showdown battling back on the list as well!

Brief Description of Contest: Not going to bother explaining it since many people already did.
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: Pokemon battling has always been a tradition for many events, and I don't see why it shouldn't be a part of this one. With as many people that are asking for it and might ask for it, we should add it to the WAR agenda.

Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: Wi-Fi was a part of past WARs and I'd like to see it return. I know I'm not the only one who wants to see it return as people will participate in it just to earn points.

Brief Description of Contest: See the other descriptions
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: I think it would be very interesting to see Showdown in WAR. There is a lot of interest in it already and I believe it would be fun to battle other players.

Brief Description of Contest: Players play any of the main series Pokemon games (DPPt in this case), earning points by catching Pokemon and defeating checkpoints in a given amount of time.
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: It would the first Communitylocke in WAR and I'm sure we could fine a creative way to distribute points.

Brief Description of Contest: It is as simple as not being a stick... in the mud. =]

... Like Dredd. (Read below for the answers to both of these.)

Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?:

"I feel that Graphic Art should be its own category/contest. Why? Because to simply categorize it with drawing in one big lump is just wrong. Doing banners, animations, wallpapers, and the like just isn't the same as putting pen/pencil to paper, or stylus to tablet. These are two very different art styles that need to be separated because a person who is good at banners may not have a tablet to digitally draw something. Someone who likes to mess with random brushes on Photoshop may not be skilled enough to paint on a canvas. There is no level of fairness to those who can do one thing, and not another. If the theme one day was: 'Draw a Digital image of a monkey in a tree,' people without a tablet would try to draw with their mouse, and it'd fail miserably. This is why I feel it's necessary to separate the two, so that Traditional and Digital artists could do their things, and the Graphic designers could do theirs."

This is the last hoop. I do this for those who believe I'm correct about this particular contest.

[Pokemon Trainer Sarah]

Brief Description of Contest: Wallpapers, banners and icons that do not require drawing as such, but use digital image manipulation programs to create cool things. :D
Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: Graphic art is much, much different to the other two art categories - sprites and drawing. It deserves its own category just like them, as not everyone can draw/sprite.

Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: I think it would be great to hold a WiFi competition if there is enough interest, as lots of people spend time raising their Pokemon on XY and would love the chance to show them off! Pokemon is all about battling after all. :) People want points so current lack of activity in that section doesn't mean the section won't be successful in the WAR!

[Grassy_Aggron]

Contest Title: Graphic/Drawn Art being separated

Brief Description of Contest: They're two separate things. Really. Graphics don't require needing to draw but being able to cleverly manipulate images and contrast, while drawing requires the ability to draw (no duh!) but doesn't necessarily need Photoshop and other such creations. They can't be judged on the same scale.

Reason You Believe It Should Be Added?: Do I really need to answer this? We have a LOT of people that draw, and a lot that do banners. Not many do both. It's only fair to give them all an opportunity to compete and not have to worry about someone pulling out a Mona Misty while all they have is a banner of Meowth getting electrocuted.


May add in support for Wi-Fi and Showdown as well later :)
