The conversation with Davis broke down after the battle roster was announced. Moon didn't really want a fight, not row. Most of the others had more Pokemon then her, and she didn't want exhaust her entire team. If today taught her anything, it was to remain alert and prepared. She sigh sharply.

After his battle was over Max went to check on other battles. He paused more a moment smiling at the girl Moon.

The battle with Max had been intense for Tyler right from the start. Firstly, he'd been attacked directly by Max's Spearow. He was caught off-guard but managed to dodge each attack. He'd proven hus natural speed and reflexes. He then learned that Max had trained at the Den in the past. Tyler had respect for Max as a Legendary Trainer but had initially been too confident in his own skill in being a Den trainer. Knowing Max had trained there in the past made Tyler respect him even more so as a trainer and person.

It had been a close battle. Phyre fought valiantly against Spearow, only losing out a little. Splinter managed to take down Max's Charmander although fainted in the process. Zar'roc showed his strength from the get-go, taking a little control of the battle at first. It was Max's strategy of freezing the thick muddy field he had his Marshtomp create that slowed the speedy feline to a halt, allowing its final strike to be slow enough for the Marshtomp to counter it with extreme strength. Zar'roc fainted, beaten by the Marshtomp.

After he praised his Marshtomp, Max walked over to Tyler. "Thanks for the battle. With some training that Absol is going to be a beast." Tyler nodded, smiling.

"Yeah, that was a fun first battle. You're definitely a skilled trainer, that's plain to see. You had control of that battle easily. But thank you for the praise. Zar'roc is going to be a key team member for sure." Tyler smiled, offering a hand for Max to shake.

Zenith smiled and got into a stance as well. "Alright, Rocky, let's do this!" she said excitedly. She then took Qeb's Poke Ball from her belt and threw it in the air. The ball opened, and Qeb appeared in a flash of light.

Zenith frowned, however, as Rocky sent out his Charmander, Fury. Crap... this won't be easy... she thought. "Let's do the best we can, Qeb!"

"Bulba!" Qeb replied, a look of determination on his face.

The first round went on for a while, but in the end Qeb just couldn't beat Fury.

"Great try, Qeb," Zenith said as she returned the grass/poison-type to his Poke Ball. "Alright, Kamau, it's you're turn!" She tossed Kamau's Poke Ball into the air, and he appeared in a flash of light.

The second round had been pretty intense. Kamau managed to take down Fury, but was severely weakened in the process.

Zenith was nervous. Will I be able to take down his next pokemon? she thought. She smiled as Rocky brought out his second pokemon, Speedy the Rattata.

"Go for it, Kamau!" Zenith said.

Zenith smiled as she returned Kamau. "Great job, Kamau," she said. Despite fighting in a weakened state, Kamau had held his own against Speedy, and managed to severely weaken the normal-type due to type advantage. Zenith was proud of that feat, despite the loss.

Zenith took a breath and grabbed the last Poke Ball on her belt, throwing it in the air.

Freefall appeared in a flash of light, flapping his wings as he floated in the air.

"Okay, Freefall, let's go!" Zenith said.

Rose was stunned at what had just happened. She didn't even think a draw was possible. Still though it, had happened. "G-Good battle." Rose said to Moon, not as nervous as she had been earlier. Amirah let out a chime as if to agree. She wanted to reach out to shake Moon's hand, but was despite being more confident, she was still too nervous.

The battle with Zenith had been a close one. Fury and Speedy had both fallen, but thanks to Kick-Puncher's aggressive attacks Rocky's team had managed to squeak through to the win.

"Good work Kick-Puncher!" Rocky said to his Mankey.

The tired Mankey looked at Rocky and gave a grin. "MANKEY!" it yelled at the top of its lungs.

"Are you ready to train with me now?" rocky asked? The Mankey looked at him suspiciously and said, "Key, Key Mankey!" Which Rocky took to mean, 'We'll see how it goes!'. Not a real commitment, but better than refusal. It still kept its distance though, asserting its independence.

He walked over to shake zenith's hand. "Thankyou Zenith. That was a fantastic battle. I think my Pokemon really leaned something from it. Kick-Puncher looks more confident."

"Yeah," Tyler responded. "Lots of intense battles." He looked around. Whereas a couple of battles had ended with a clear winner and loser, one in particular, between Rose and Moon, ended in a draw. Tyler had only seen one other draw before, and that was between two of the other Apprentices in the Den.

"When a match ends in a draw in a competitive environment, how do they judge it?" Tyler mumbled to himself. He would look it up. In the meantime, he pulled out his sketchpad and did brief sketches of a few of the Pokemon he'd seen the other trainers use and battle.

Zenith returned Freefall to his Poke Ball and clipped it back onto her belt. She was disappointed she lost, but the battle had been so close she couldn't be too upset. Her pokemon had fought well, and she was proud of that. And more importantly than winning, her pokemon would learn from this experience and get stronger with more training.

And, completely to her surprise, it ended in a draw. Both her Pokemon were out though, which was problematic. Still, she tried to remain optimistic.

"G-Good battle." Rose stuttered, appearing uncomfortable.

"It was a fine dual, yes. Your Pokemon fought well"
