Brandon bullied a group of kids. The group of kids kicked his rear end, in a piece of Karma. Nathan encountered a thief and soundly bested him-and it turned out that Nathan had just been stolen from BY the same thief.

It was then suggested that everyone gets in a fight. Techncially his first Pokemon Battle with an actual Trainer...Hoo boy. He was paired up against Meghan.

Markus was not going to expect his victory unless she went easy on him as a mercy measure, but darn he would try as hard as possible.

I was paired with Alice to battle, and couldn't help but grin. Personally I would have liked to battle Brandon and possibly make him cry, but Alice was the next best.

"Ready for a battle Circut?" I asked, "It's been a while!"

Circut's tail began to glow brighter, until eventually the light was blinding. When the light disappeared, Circut was now pink and standing on two feet. It had evolved. Considering the battles we had before leaving Johto, I wasn't surprised.

"Well Alice, this just got a fair bit more interesting." I said with a grin.

Alice was surprised when Ethan's Mareep began glowing. She had to cover her eyes from the bright light. When she opened them, the Pokemon had evolved! She was happy for Ethan, but it also made her more nervous. This battle was going to be even more difficult now.

Alice knew she had to appear confident, at least for her Pokemon. So she nodded, a small, determined frown on her face, when Ethan challenged her.

She decided to start with Fervor. She released the Mankey, who looked around confusedly before focusing in on Flaaffy.

She wiped her brow, trying not to get frustrated about the battle. Her parents had often told her she was a sore loser, and she knew they were probably right. She was determined to be a good trainer though, so she pushed those thoughts aside.

She released her starter, who appeared in a flash of red light. "Alright buddy," Alice said quietly, "This is going to be a tough one. We might not be able to beat this thing, but as long as we do our best, it doesn't matter. I believe in you, so please trust me. This is what it's all about! Let's show them how we've been training!"

Aster grunted and next thing she knew, began to glow.

"Aster?" Alice asked concernedly.

In a moment, the glowing stopped. Alice was surprised to see that Aster had grown... and the flower on his back seemed to have sprouted!

"Aster? You evolved?" Alice was astonished.

Marionette held on as long as possible but in the end, she was just too tired.

Alice returned Marionette. She was surprised by the amazing amount of power that an evolved Pokemon could have, as exhibited by Flaaffy and Aster. She was a little disappointed that her team hadn't been able to pull off the win, but another voice in her head reminded her that most of them had never battled before and she should be happy she had gotten so close. She placed Marionette's Pokeball into her bag and then headed over to congratulate Ethan.

"Your Flaaffy is a tank," she smiled. She hadn't forgotten how the Flaaffy had taken down her Mankey in one hit. "I can't believe both of our Pokemon evolved just in time for the battle!" The coincidence was astounding. "Awesome battle though. It was definitely good experience for my team." She reached out to shake Ethan's hand.

"I'm so excited that Aster evolved. Pokemon evolution is so interesting. I kind of wish I'd studied that as well," she laughed.

What a battle. For my first against another trainer, and my first with more than just Circut, I couldn't have asked for any better.

"You did really well Alice." I said with a grin, "And honestly, the only reason it ended the way it did is because I have been with Circut for weeks, and he had that little bit more experience. If I was in the same boat as you, and this was my first day, you would have beaten me six ways to Sunday. Aster did well dealing with the type disadvantage!

I called back my tired Pokemon and stood by to watch the others battle it out.

The battle roster had been read and everyone began pairing off for their battles. I was forgotten, but I was silently glad. It was my first day, and really, I just wanted to spend it getting to know my Pokemon, not sending them into a battle that will probably end with them being unconscious.

The first battle began with a Mareep and Bulbasaur evolving, and was close the whole time, ending with Ethan's Pidgey barely holding on.

I considered letting Brutus out to watch, but seeing as the first thing he did when I let him out last time was attack Ethan's Charmander, I decided against it. He can save it for the gym, and if what I had seen of Brock online was true, he was going to need every bit of spunk he had.

Instead I let out Gladiator. Though he had a bold name, the Ralts was actually quite timid. I picked him up and sat him on my shoulder, as he watched the battles in awe...

While the other members began to battle, Nathan started to train with his old friend, Shich. Shich's training routine was a bit different from Leafy's. First, Nathan made Shich used Scratch on a boulder, and Shich couldn't stop using Scratch, until the boulder broke in half. After 30 minutes of repeated Scratching, Shich finally broke the large rock. Shich leveled up twice from that training.

Next, Nathan made Shich practiced on his Growl, similar with Leafy's Growl training. Shich had to make the most ferocious Growl, and last for the longest amount of time. After that, Shich trained in Speed, where Shich had to run from one point and come back. Nathan would time Shich, and every time he ran, he had to break his previous record. Shich's finally training was in evasiveness, while Nathan threw balls of clay at Shich, Shich had to dodge everyone of them.

The final training was when Leafy and Shich had a battle, against each other. Leafy used his new move, Vine Whip, over and over again on Shich, but shich dodged it many times. Shich used Scratch, and kept on dodging. Nathan didn't commanded either of them, they would choose the moves on their own, so that way, Nathan would see their preferred battling style. After the long battle, Nathan commanded the two to stop. Shich leveled up once more, while Leafy, didn't.

When creating the list Max had no idea who to choose to battle with. As he scanned through the list two names stood out. Tyler and Meghan, both that captured powerful pokemon on Route 1. To captured those pokemon with a starter on their first day was impressive. However he ended up going with Tyler who had been trained in the Dragon's Den. Max had been studying all of the trainers, Tyler's relaxs had been honed. Tyler had no idea at the time that Max had trained there as well and battled the leader.

" You know what lets mix this up..." Max smiled. Taking out a pokeball "Spearow get him.." Max letting the pokemon out. The Spearow flew out of its ball and circled around for a second before turning towards Tyler. The trainer had no idea what was going on as the bird flew right at him. (*Bunnying Tyler a little bit here!) He did not send his pokemon to attack instead choose to dodge the attacks. Tyler was swift and his foot movement had been practice. The bird continued until Tyler ducked out of the way and lept up the bird. As he landed Max smiled.

"Almost perfect...but you're not their yet." Max smiled pointing to the tear on the back of right sleeve.
" Now Spearow attack me.." Max smiled running towards the bird. Max moved around swiftly, he was fast and very well trained. Max lept over the bird twice before pulling it up out of the air safely..Spearow peaked him once as a sigh of affection.

" I trained in the Dragons Den to. Good Luck!" Max said bowing his head out of respect.

Marshtomp 16/Spearow 6/Manky 7


Max let Spearow go in first. " Spear, lets test your speed against the charmander!" Max nodded and Spearow went flying in. Tyler watched the pokemon take a couple of circles before calling out Smokescreen. His plan had been simple Spearows speed and vision would be useless in the cloud. Charmander took advantage as Spearow came flying in blind. The small bird was met with a fury of scratches.

"Get clear of it Spearow...Give be a tailwind!" Max order. Spearow kicked off the Charmander and begin to spin in the air dragging the cloud of smock with it. As it spun it go faster and faster. When it stopped the smookscreen shot out all over the field.

"Razor Wind!" Max ordered . Charmander tried to dodge but blades of black wind cut through the smoke hitting charmander from all angles. Charmander stumbled around confused. When it got back its focus it noticed the Spearow coming straight down at it with a Drill Peck. It let out an Ember but was to late and the connected with it. As the smoke cleared Charmander was down.

"Great job Spear..." he said called back the worn out Bird.


Next up Tyler sent out Rattata and Max reached for Primes Pokéball but held back. Manky would be overkill in this battle. It also wouldnt be a good way to test Tyler strategy. "Lila come out!" The light from the ball flashed and Charmander came out. The happy little chramander smiled.
"Char char!" She called out.
"Time to focus young one." Max said rubbing her head.

Rattata and Chramander went right for each other. The two matched blow for blow biting and scratches at each other until they wore themselves down. As the two backed away from each other

"Lila grab its tail!" Max commanded watching the Rattata be swung through the air.

"Now Ember!" Max called out. The tired fire type took a second to build up the fire. In that time Tyler had called his next move sending the Rattata in right at the Charmander before it could attack the Rattata circled around it and tripped it up. Lila landed on the grass sending the ember out into an open field. Tyler and his partner stayed on the charmander biting at her as she rolled to get out away.

"Lila roll into a fire spin." Max called out.

Lila rolled her tail burning brighter and brighter until she ws a full ball of fire. Then turned around and rolled right into the tired Rattata could could not escape the wheel of fire. Rattata was knocked out in this attack. Lila got up dizy and tired and fainted afterwords.

The two trainers took a minute get situated. Chunk put out the fire in the grass. Max called out.
"This is it, we both saved the best for last. Don't hold anything back!" Max called out.


Absol was swift and powerful. Right away it used its speed winning the first couple of exchanges. On Tyler's orders Absol lept over Marshtomp head using its sickle to knock the slower pokemon down. What the pokemon lacked it speed it made up for in bulk. Marshtomp didnt seem to effected by these first couple of strikes.

" Its going to use its speed to keep attacking you.. Be patient and use muddy water dont aim it the Absol."

Marshtomp planted its feet and pumped water making the field a muddy mess. Absol attack continued the dodge and hit strategy was working well as the Chunk was showing signs of being tired. Each time Absol could moved in it tracked more and more of the thicker mud.
"Ice Beam..intot he mud.." Max ordered

Marshtomp shot out an ice beam that force absol to dodge. Now the mud was thick and Max went for his next move.

"doube team" He smiled. The worn out Marshtomp started to spread out. When Absol came in for its next attack its feet got stuck the heavy mud had slowed it down greatly. Marshomp started to appear all over the muddy froze plain. Tyler called out commands using attacks powerful attack to hit blindly.

When it finally connected with the right Marshtomp Max had him where he wanted him.
"Counter!"

The match was sealed as Counter connected with the pokemon knocking it out.

Meghan wanted to test out Sap so she sent him in first. The big bug type found the little squritle to be a lot to handle. Markus headed pokemon used a lot of defesive moves which confused the heracross for awhile. Eventually its power got the upper hand taking down the Squirtle. Next up Meghan sent in Kaze who seemed ready to go. Charmeleon had grown considerable since its evolution and found the little bird to be manageable.
