"Hey, Domino!" Alice called, after the rat disappeared from view for a few seconds. "Don't go too far!"

"Ta!" Alice heard an answering scoff. Eventually Domino appeared with something in her mouth. As she got nearer, Alice recognised it as a pink ribbon.

"Where'd you get that?" Alice asked, looking about to make sure no one seemed to have lost one.

Domino motioned underneath one of the benches, then dropped the ribbon at Alice's feet and sat very still, head in the air.

"Okay, okay," Alice smiled, knowing Domino wanted to wear her prize. She tied the pink ribbon around the rat's neck.

"Ta! Ta!" Domino squeaked happily and straightened up the ribbon with her front paws. She then ran up Alice's leg, causing the girl to jump a little in surprise, until Domino was curled up on her shoulder.

"Alright, you can stay there for a little bit," she said, rubbing Domino under the chin. She then headed out of the center.

Once outside, she noticed a few trainers milling about. Max told them to meet back here in one hour, and then headed off toward Route 22. Alice knew that one of the Pokemon she was really interested in could be found there. She wondered if Max would mind if she tagged along...

She wandered quietly through the streets of Viridian, sort of following the direction Max was going, but keeping well back. She didn't want to disturb the mysterious trainer, but was eager to check out Route 22 herself. She took the time to look around as she walked. She had only fleeting memories of the time she had spent in Kanto as a young child, but it sure was nice to be back. She could feel in her bones that she belonged here, just as much as Aster and Domino did.
