Dogasu’s Backpack Turns 15

Dogasu’s Backpack celebrates being online for fifteen years this year.
Dogasu’s Backpack started on January 31, 2000 as a site to help American fans learn and understand Pokemon’s Japanese roots as a series. It had gain fame as being the site that Pokemon fans can go to for episode comparisons between the English and Japanese dub of the Pokemon anime. This website has over a hundred episode comparisons recording the changes that 4Kids and tPCI has done while adapting the Japanese anime for American audiences. The webmaster for Dogasu’s Backpack has spent countless hours researching and clearing up misconceptions that have spread due to 4Kids dubbing practices.
Recently, Dogasu’s Backpack has taken a step back from episode comparisons and started to focus on doing movie comparisons and providing insight of the Pokemon franchise from Japan. He has done this by providing content involving Japanese-only events and items. This includes music CDs, live dramas and anime specials only shown in planetariums.
As tradition, the webmaster for Dogasu’s Backpack looks back on the past year and talks about how much his site has changed in the last fifteen years. He even gives his annual predictions on what Pokemon fans can expect from the Pokemon franchise. His predictions range from how many badges Ash will collect this year, CD releases and if Pokemon fans can expect a new game this year. You can read the write up here.

This site is really interesting and unique. If you haven't checked it out, it's got a lot of interesting articles. I used to enjoy reading about the changes between the Japanese and English Pokemon episodes.

Yeah. This is one of my favorite websites. I use to check this website regularity for episode comparisons. It is amazing the amount of changes that 4Kids did to the dub in the "adaption" process.

I do miss the amount of comparisons that he use to do but I find his insight and translations of the current stuff to be great. Still worth coming to.

Oh yeah. This site is AMAZING! I feel like a much smarter fan just by reading his comparisons.

I totally agree with him on his predictions about a main series Pokemon game. It is going to happen if Pokemon has some serious competition.

It's actually crazy I have never heard of this website... but I can see I am not alone, hehe. I am currently browsing it and it looks like there are some good reads here. I have been meaning to get back into the anime so this might be a good kickstarter for that! ^_^ Thanks for the share.

Wow. I am surprise that so few people have heard of this site. It is well known among Pokemon anime geeks due to it's comparisons for the 4Kids episodes. I guess this article should have gone up sooner.
